Books Between Friends

I went to Books Between Friends on Friday for the first time and had a lovely experience. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews.Did they ask me if I have been there before…they did but I appreciate that they did and then took the time to explain to me how the store works.Did they ask me to wash my hands…again they did but I totally understand why. Our hands have natural oils on them not to mention lotions we put on etc. so to avoid ruining the books they ask you to wash your hands. I personally don’t think it’s a far fetched ask.The 3 staff members I encountered that day were super friendly and more than willing to answer any questions I had and even helped me find some of the books I had on my list.The prices were amazing I got 2 books for $5 and they were basically in new condition!I would definitely go here again and recommend the store to the avid reader.

This place is phenomenal! The selection of books is excellent and the staff are extremely helpful as well as friendly. I went there for the first time a couple weeks ago and they treated me like an old friend as soon as I walked in the door. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for used books, books that are hard to track down and just anything in general if you're a reader. They happily show you around and they have answers to any question you could possibly have about any book in the place, I love coming here

Rude staff. I called asking about a particular book and the woman staff member asked me what I needed, and as I was telling her which book, she cut me off mid-sentence with a rude Nope

Lots of books, fantastic selection, great prices and very nice people. Annoying that you have to be escorted to the back to wash your hands, when a sanitizer station at the front would suffice. Also, not sure if they don't take debit or only for larger purchases.

I visited Books Between Friends to find a copy of To Kill A Mockingbird. The women working were incredibly helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The prices are so low that my daughter was stunned. This is the best bookstore in Calgary.

A great used book store! Tons of selection and very personable staff! Always find some new treasure every time we visit!

They have a great collection. The gentleman sitting at the reception, who I believe is also the owner, came to me and explained pricing and location of different genres. Pricing is standard: $2 for pocket paperbacks, $3 for paperbacks, and $4 for hardbacks. This is a lot cheaper than most second hand bookstores in the city. I will definitely visit again.

Cute store, shop owner was eccentric and a jokster. Its bigger on the inside then it looks on the outside. They have COVID procedures here. 7 ppl max inside. Must wash your hands at the sink. Masks must be on at all times. It's a little dizzying with all the books but most definitely worth checking out. Prices are very very economical. Anywhere from 1 dollar to 10 dollars. They take all sorts of payments.

This is a unique bookstore in Calgary--see the shop website and read the story behind it. Prices are very reasonable but I feel it can use more book donations; some of the shelves were pretty empty but that's understandable because they are competing with Value Village a stone's throw away. This shop needs to do some more marketing so people know its here. It needs more books to sell so it can support local good causes. And I think it can/should drop the hand-washing policy because as other reviewers have said, it is a bit much and the hand-washing location is in an awkward place in the store and may put off new customers who aren't used to shopping there.

Incredibly friendly people running the store. They have an enormous selection of books, a great kids section, and a lovely atmosphere.We bought probably 10-12 books and they are very affordable! Just over 50 bucks for all those books, a total steal of a deal, in my opinion. I will definitely be going back again and again.
