The Canadian Ecology Centre

I came here several years ago to participate in a week-long program. The activities and experiences were fun, informative, and memorable. Facilities were were large and accommodating. Cabins were very clean and cozy. Each one had electricity, showers, and beds, all of which were of top quality, especially for a campsite. The only downside, which is enough to bring my review down by two stars, was the food; for a campsite that outdoes many others in most areas, the food was absolutely despicable. Besides that, I genuinely enjoyed my time there

What a stunning facility to visit! We used the CEC for our homebase for Mohawk College's NOWIT trip this year, and frankly I don't think we could have found a better fit. The food was excellent, Bill was an enthusiastic and gracious host, and the surrounding area is a treasure to experience. I was sad to go, and will be making my way back again on my own.Be sure to look after your cabins and the space you are in while visiting. You are a guest in nature, and it is a privilege to be in nature there.Thank you Bill, and staff, for making our stay memorable.

We just came back from a weekend away to the Ecology center for their Christmas in the woods. Both my kids loved it. I read reviews about the food being horrible but i would not agree. We found the food great and affordable. We ate breakfast , lunch and dinner and they were all great. Lots of activities planned at all times for us to partake in. Would return and recommend this place.

Hi, I came here on a school trip and I really liked the cabins, they were very nice and really clean compared to cabins in other camping spaces. The food was decent but there wasn't much variety. The activities were entertaining, I learnt some skills such as wilderness survival and canoeing strokes! There were really nice views while hiking, however the trail was quite rocky and some parts were steep. Overall, this trip was enjoyable and I would come again, thank you for the hospitality! Also, these photos were by my friend and I, not from Google lol, our photography skills are just that great.

Went here on a field trip with school. It was really fun, and our guide, Mandi, was amazing. There was lots of cool wildlife and beautiful scenery. I really enjoyed the wolf howl, even though no wolves howled back.

Ok. We're at the Canadian Ecology Center right now. Cannot believe we are only ones here. Fantastic!!!Cabin is cozy,warm and great. The wilderness is beautiful. Just met Backroad Bill and his friend,Court. Friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Came to ski at Mt. Antoine but too cold. No problem. There's lots to do here. I can't believe this place isn't full. We're an older couple but this place would be perfect for a family with kids. Snowshoeing, hiking,fatbiking, cross country skiing all right here on groomed trail. Ski hill is maybe 20 minutes away and snowmobile trails not too far off but no sledding in the park. Love the cabin but unfortunately no stove or microwave but crockpot allowed and barbecue available at dining cabin. One could even bring a small camp stove to cook outside on porch. So impressed. And a bit stunned it is not fully booked. Great getaway during Covid or any time. 5 stars. A real hidden gem.

We stayed a few nights here in the amazing and pristine, cozy cabins. Being right within the Samuel de Champlain park is very special. And the owner and founder of the CEC personally recommended incredible hikes and shared his encyclopedic knowledge of the Park and region with us. Check in and booking was easy and we can't wait to come back again!

We had gone as a class trip and participated in two workshops. The students had a hard time getting engaged with what was presented for the cost. We did not stay in any rooms, so I cannot give a rating.
