Awesome gym! Great route setting - there is something for everyone, from the beginner climber to the experienced crusher. The autobelays are a great feature - they helped give me the confidence to try hard problems outside of my skill level, without worrying about (inevitably) falling. We are visiting from out of town and within minutes the staff made us feel as welcome as if this was our home gym. We had intended just a quick drop in visit but we ended up staying for hours - it's an aptly-named gym because it is a great place to Hangout!

This was my first visit here and the community here is so amazing. The owners are really involved and create such a wonderful environment. The sets were well done and there were lots of types of walls to climb. I couldn't recommend this gym more

My family and I have been members at The Hangout for a few months now and we absolutely love it. My children (2 and 5) both have plenty of options on the kids wall and top rope wall and there is more than enough to challenge both me and my wife as we learn and progress. Both kids are noticeably more capable and confident both in the gym and outside (playgrounds, etc.) than before we started.The routes change often enough to keep things fresh and are very well executed. The staff are super friendly and supportive and keep the gym very clean. Overall it's a great atmosphere and I highly recommend checking it out.

Great staff. Love that they have homeschool programs during school hours. Love that they have teen programs as there is so little in Cowichan for teens that is just for fun or at a beginner level. They have events for social climbing, for serious climbing and competitions, beginner, advanced, in the middle. They have something for anyone wanting to be active.Parking is a little difficult to get into, but the staff and facility are well worth the extra effort to get into, or leave the car at home and walk since the location is so central.

Really a cozy community gym. After you've been going for a while, you really get to know everyone. It vibes between dedicated crusher sessions and family fun for all ages with lots of little ones running around. While I do wish it had a taller wall to practice sport and lead, we do the best we can with what we had.

I was nervous to start rock climbing as a woman in her 40’s in a larger body. I had no idea how I would be perceived going to a climbing gym. My daughter and I started with the ladies beginner class which was awesome! We couldn’t have been treated better! The staff at the hangout are so friendly and helpful and all of the people who go to climb are also kind and encouraging! I’ve never felt out of place or uncomfortable! My daughters and I love going many times a week! I highly recommend it! There are a variety of climbs for every climber!

Went to watch an Olympic finals competition it was awesome

Great staff. Lots of fun. My grandchildren loved it. I highly recommend it to anyone who has not experienced it..Have fun!
