The Bro'Kin Yolk
Honestly, we had our expectations pretty high since Brokin Yolk is always a stop for us in Calgary. The service was sub par. Our waitress seemed uninformed, she didn't check on us throughout our stay and the service in general wasn't good. The food, over salted, over sauced and just not good. The short rib hash was insanely salty. The only good thing about it was the over medium eggs on potatoes (potato's have issues as well noted below). Don't even get me started on the Hollandaise Sauce". Also

What an amazing little gem this restaurant is. Farm to table fresh food, an exciting menu and amazing service. There are so many dishes. I can't wait to go back and try!

Great place for breakfast. They offer novel and delicious breakfast options. They are locally owned and support other locally owned businesses and farms. Everything was delicious and the service was very hospitable. Would definitely recommend. The best option is to call the waitlist number to secure a place in line. This is a great system that alleviates the need to wait in any line.

Very good food, Could have a little more of the very nice lemon sauce with the Lemon Berry French Toast. Chicken was very nice as part of the chicken poutine. Maybe a bit more cheese and potatoes a bit crispier. Eggs were excellent as they were on the Short Rib hash. Hot chocolate a little weak for the price.Service was quick overall with a slight wait for the cheque. Basic modern diner decor.

Yes!! I was so exited to try this place, and it did not dissolve at all. From the moment I got in, I smelled great food and felt good vibes.I ordered a mixture of food to try a little of everything and it was all to die for. My hamburger was on point and my egg was done perfectly. Mini waffles were so yummy and great for sharing. Throw salads are amazing and very creative. I cannot forget the coffee! Coffee was very tasty and can’t wait to come back. The place was very clean, was very friendly and you well looked after. This guys are here to stay and you must try. Prices are fair and the portions are good for what you are paying. Very unique take on great food.#chicosreviews

Had amazing amazing service. Teanne was so welcoming and kind as our hostess and made us feel right at home immediately. When we got sat, Dani was super attentive to us. Brought us waters straight away, cracked jokes and was so nice with us. She even suggested a menu item when I couldn’t pick and I loved it. Hope to see one or both of these two the next time I’m in!

I’m very glad that I looked up a “Best Breakfast in Edmonton” list when my wife said that she’d like to go out for breakfast today and found Bro’kin Yolk.We decided to try it and were incredibly happy that we did. The Bacon Benny was great and offered a bit of a twist being served on a waffle rather than English muffin, and along with the slightly sweet, thick-cut bacon was sautéed kale (normally not a big kale fan, but it works here) and house-made hollandaise. The side of duck fat hash was excellent. The Bro’s Breakfast was fantastic! The pork belly adobo on its own was a bit salty, but once mixed with the egg, rice and house-made tomato salsa it was perfect! We both agree that we will be going back to try more of the menu soon.

This is a restaurant that features terrific, high quality ingredients, and unique dishes. The dishes themselves a bit hit and miss. I service is also excellent.I think where this restaurant falls short is how busy they are and how the staff cannot keep up with the work.I tried calling ahead to get on the waitlist but waited on hold for over 10 minutes, then called a second time and still no answer. We drove there and were told it was an hour wait for 2 people, so we waited. Once we were seated, it was another 10 minutes before our order was taken and then another 30 minutes to be served our food. The Loco Moco was outstanding; the rice was perfectly cooked, the eggs were cooked to perfection, the gravy was good and the hamburger steak was excellent. I’ve had Loco Moco in Hawaii (its birthplace). The breakfast poutine with ham, mushrooms and truffle was good. The ham, mushrooms and cheese were on the sparse side, but the poached eggs was phenomenal. The “duck fat hash” (really just fried potatoes) were unfortunately undercooked and hard. The shortrib and duck fat hash was sorely lacking; a moderate amount of shortrib which was excellent, scrambled eggs which were excellent, but served over fried potatoes that were very undercooked and were hard, and large chunks of raw onion and bell pepper which were almost raw.The longanisa was excellent, perfectly cooked and slightly sweet. The bacon was too sweet for my taste and served on a plate dripping in oil.I spent a long time trying to observe the staff and goings-on to figure out why there was so much waiting. The staff are harried and do work very hard…they seem to be swamped with online orders in addition to being incredibly busy with in-person diners and as a result that really seems to push up the wait for food. I would love to come back, but between the >1.5 hour wait for food and how hit and miss the food was, I likely will stick with my favorite breakfast places.

Not bad! We ordered the BELT, the farmers hash, the bro’kin burger, and the short rib hash. The atmosphere is nice and bright, and there’s ample space between the tables which I liked. The food itself wasn’t amazing if I’m being honest, but some items are quite unique! the duck fat hash is delicious and I highly recommend trying it!

We went for brunch on Monday. Good there's no long lineup. Ordered the chicken waffle with dark meat. The chicken is juicy. The spicy sauce on the side is pretty good and it's not too spicy. The food overall is satisfying! Service is nice as well. Busy restaurant.
