Lucky Gate Chinese Restaurant
Really happy to see that Lucky Gate is still going strong. Have come here several times with family over the years and it’s always pretty solid every time we are back. The portions are very generous and they have pretty great pricing for what you get. I recommend the noodles as they are made fresh and although you may not get to see them working on pulling the noodles live anymore (maybe?) they still taste great!I believe the place is still family run and the service seemed like it could be a bit shorter in staff but our food still came out pretty quickly.Parking can be a bit tough but there’s definitely options around if you’re willing to walk a block down or from across the street.

The food was fine and portions were generous. BUT service was so poor. We arrived at 1105am and was asked to wait outside so the server could finish vacuuming. Then the server asked me to move my kids because they were sitting where she planned to serve the food to the table. At the time, most of my family were already seated and everyone had to get up and move. I was curious to know why she HAD to serve the food at THAT specific spot??? Also, my mom ordered and had said something incorrectly and the server(only one there) rudely answered my mom adding she had pronounced a word wrong and that it could confuse her.This place has been around for long and I used to come with my parents as a kid. Not sure if it’s still the same owner but I’ll never go back again. Even if the food was decent, we don’t deserve that kind of poor service.

Lucky Gate Chinese Restaurant
I stumbled upon Lucky Gate Chinese restaurant in Coquitlam. Their north eastern Chinese food is very authentic and the dishes are mouth watering. This place has signature fulfilling hot pot with big pieces of meat and handmade dumplings are very delicious. I would recommend this place over and over again for a taste authentic Chinese food. Its warm welcoming environment feels like eating at home. The best Chinese food taste you can find in Coquitlam and Vancouver.

Our first time here, nice little restaurant. We arrived just before 6pm on a Friday and there was only 1 other table besides us but was a full house by the time we left. We ordered the Dan dan noodles, Yangzhou fried rice, crispy fried egg rolls, pork & cabbage dumplings and lucky gate home-style steamed pork dumplings. We enjoyed everything except the dan dan noodles, there was no flavour just a peanut sauce. The dumplings and rice were delicious, the rice was light and not greasy at all. The egg rolls came with a plum sauce but not the typical commercial plum sauces you normally get, it seemed like a fresh plum sauce which I liked. Portions were a decent size too for all dishes we ordered.

Lamb. You come here and order their cumin lamb or lamb skewers. Pair it with an order of the hand rolled pancake in Shangdong style and hot and sour soup. Divine. Oh the deep fried fish is pretty good too!If you enjoy refreshing xiao long bao, as in not heavily flavored with spices, salt and sugar, but just a light fresh soupy dumpling you dunk into black vinegar, this is the place to get it.Very family style, all their Shangdong dishes hits home! Did I mention their cumin lamb and lamb skewers are amazing?

First time visiting here and I must say that the portions are pretty big and filling. Came with our relatives and can say that we left with a food coma lol. Food tasted great too. If you like spicy food, then you should definitely come here as they have a lot of really tasty spicy options.Decor is rather dated and they could do with some updated furniture and table coverings and interior decorations, but that's about it.Come here with an empty stomach and you'll be leaving here plump full.

The adventure of finding the best hole in the wall resto continues and this unfortunately don’t measure up. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes but there really wasn’t any flavours outside of salt and pepper. Don’t expect service as there usually is only one server.

The food was not bad. The skin of the siu long bao was pretty thin which was good. But the meat was on the bland side. And so was the green onion pancake, it looks perfect but they forgot to put salt or any taste in it. But the price of the dim sum is quite reasonable. The pan fried rice cake was bland too. The salty soy milk and lamb skewers was the two items that was really good and tasty. But the waitress do not speak English, but u can order by the number of the items.
