When I first started looking for a new sailboat a friend suggested to me that the dealer that I would be getting the boat from should play a key part in my choice in my decision making process. Now that I have recently taken possession of my new beautiful Bavaria C45 it has become clear how right he was with that point. Over the past two years I've talked to a lot of boat brokers and dealers. From my first encounter with Dave Bonar at Yacht Sales West, to travelling to Boot in Dusseldorf to see the full menu of boats, through to commissioning her with David Bossu I found them and the other members of the YSW team low pressure, thoughtful and endlessly patient (new boat buyers can be a real pain in the butt (I mean me))! There are a lot of decisions to make when ordering a new boat and a good decision making partner is extremely valuable. Now about the new Bavaria C series; I looked at them all and this new series is in my mind, the clear leader of the new designs. I would typically be a slightly used" buyer but there was no way that the boats a few years old can compete with the new designs. My most pleasant surprise is how fast she is. I was worried that with all that comfort below I would be sacrificing speed. Unprofessional brokers and apparently ill-equipped brokerage. Completely astonished and insulted by their behavior towards clients and buyers. Especially coming from someone who works in the industry for professional brokerages and maintains million dollar yachts every single day. Unbelievable that I would see them treat clients and potential clients like this, and at a boat show none the less.Don’t worry Yachts Sales West, these people will be very happy in their new Scandinavian built cruising boat rather than a cheaply built Bavaria whose quality has dipped in recent years to create disposable garbage boats for charter fleets. Time to learn that the industry is shifting, as is the clientele and demographics of boaters and who is spending money on boats. Good job stepping over dollars to pick up cents.
