Real fish and chips here. This means the fish is fresh out of the water and ony dusted rather than battered. The fries are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. People who like fast food from the big chains may not fall in love with them.We drive 300 km once a year to have them, and the local airport is often full because of private plains, coming as far as from the States to enjoy this dish, right on the harbor dock.New is, that you have to order inside at the order desk.

Sudbury location.Expensive. Fish tasted like soap. We couldn't eat it and left hungry. Hopefully I don't get sick. Place looks dirty and still is all Covid up with masks, wear mask signs and plexiglass. Not a good experience.

Good, the bad, and the ugly on Fri Jul 5FIRST: Most of the reviews and the photos here are incorrect. They are for the other original location in Killarney. This location is in a dingy land locked strip mall plaza NOT near water with no exterior seating. NOT the quaint free standing building shown in some photos.GOOD: The fish was GREAT! We came here because local trout and pickerel are the fish they use, not haddock or halibut like you usually find. Lots of smaller pieces lightly battered. Decent amount of fresh cut french fries.BAD: Sticky tables and slow service. Was told 20 min, but ended up being 40. I don’t mind being told it’s going to be longer for fresh made, but let’s be honest. It would be better if they actually outlined on the menu what type of fish you were going to get, since people typically expect halibut. Location and decor are poor. Prices are also much higher than average.UGLY: So this is what destroyed our experience. I split open two different pieces of fish and brought them up to the cash to ask the guy what type of fish each of these were. He proceeds to pick it up and poke each one while telling me what they are. This is right after handling the cash!!! I was shocked! Now if that’s what he did, I was worried what things were like in the back. Let’s hope the cook’s hygiene was better. This is why I hate tipping at the cash when you first purchase.

Made a pit stop here on the route home after a weekend at Killarney. Fast and efficient service with such friendly staff. The fish is cooked perfectly, with a thinly coated layer of batter that was still so crispy. The freshly cut fries were also delicious. They provide all the vinegar, salt, pepper, ketchup and sriracha you need - my only downside is they use kraft packets of tartar sauce but the fish is so good that you barely notice. They have picnic tables by the water so you can sit and eat, which makes it the perfect sunny lunch date!

Surprised it was a fast food type place. Wondered why I included a tip on the bill since all they did was bring the food. You must get your own disposable cutlery and condiments and clear your table. Fish had a light batter but had no flavour. Fries were no better. Very disappointed. Will not return.

Best Fish and Chips AnywhereI work with a small Coast Guard buoy tender, Caribou Isle, and we always make sure to stop here for the delicious fish and chips. They use fresh caught whitefish which they catch themselves. Whitefish does not have a fishy taste as with other types of fish, this makes the deep fried fish and chips taste so light and flaky. I am originally from Nova Scotia and can say without hesitation that this is the best fish and chips I have ever had! I just wish I could drop in more often than once every few years :-)

If I could I would rate my experience at the Sudbury location a zero star rating! My boyfriend and I went to try it out for the first time, and our meals were absolutely disgusting! The fish had no flavour, the veins were still in it and had no flavour. The fries were not good either very greasy, no color or salt. But the worst of it is I got very sick. I threw up my fish and I felt incredibly nauseous!DO NOT GO TO THE SUDBURY LOCATION. YOU MAY GET SICK AS WELL!

The fries were like dried cardboard, there was no dressing, that I could detect,in the coleslaw and the fish was only average. Not like Killarney at all. I think I will take a pass next time.

I'm sorry, folks... I was very disappointed today when I went to the Herbert Fisheries restaurant in Sudbury. Where should I begin! The fish and chips that I was served ranked as the third worst I have ever eaten! The fries were like cardboard, and the fish was either sliced very, very thin, or cut in long, thin fingers. It was tasteless! The high price, poor food, and lack of any kind of atmosphere left me feeling cheated and still hungry! (Couldn't eat half the fries!)

Went here for the first time, we were excited when we found out they have pickerel dish and chips. The fish and chips had to be one of the best I’ve had...the pickerel filets were perfectly battered and fried, crispy. There were fresh cut fries....who eats fries when there is perfect t fish.I wish they made their own tartar sauce.
