Black Market Underground
Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Black Market Underground, a vintage store located in Toronto. I visited both of their locations and was impressed with both of them. The first thing that caught my attention was how easy it was to find the store due to the signs that were left out front. The store was also conveniently located near a subway station, making it easily accessible for those without a car.I visited the underground location, which was a unique and exciting experience. As I descended the stairs, I was immediately transported into a different world. The underground location had a vibe that was unlike any other store I've ever been to. The space was dimly lit, which added to the underground atmosphere, and there were a few other stores located in the same area, which made it feel like a hidden gem in the city. The vintage items at Black Market Underground were incredible. They had everything from clothing to accessories, all of which were unique and in great condition. I was particularly impressed with their selection of vintage band tees, which are difficult to find in good condition. The prices were also very reasonable, which made it even more tempting to purchase multiple items. The staff at Black Market Underground were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They were happy to answer any questions I had and even gave me some recommendations on how to style some of the items I was interested in purchasing. Their expertise and passion for vintage clothing was evident, and it made the shopping experience even more enjoyable.I also visited the other location of Black Market, which was just as impressive. The space was a tad bit smaller and had a different vibe, but the selection of vintage items was just as great. It was clear that the owners put a lot of thought and care into curating the items for their store.Overall, my experience at Black Market Underground was fantastic. The unique atmosphere, great selection of vintage items, and friendly staff made for a memorable shopping experience. I would highly recommend visiting both of their locations if you're in the area and looking for some great vintage finds.

Prefer Black Market Upstairs as it's a bit easier to navigate and I've found better stuff there. This one is still cool though!

So overhyped, not much to choose from to be honest. Most of the stuff are under $10 tho. Place got a funky smell.

Black Market Underground
Historic part of Toronto downtown shopping scene, it has survived shut downs, and near closing, morphing through the years to keep itself afloat. In its current iteration, the Black Market still retains many of it's old charms. Cheap, bargain bin finds that can be a little tacky, charming, avant garde, fashionably modern, quaint, and all or none of the above. The main bulk of products in Black Market is clothing, and you're never sure what you're going to find there when you go, but you can be sure it'll be a steal, and that there are sure to be gems if you look hard enough. What separates Black Market is more than the products, is the place; with minimal floor level advertising, a feeling of entering a different world is evoked upon descending the staircase past posters and flyers for local shows, causes and affiliates. Grungy can be an appropriate descriptor, but the staff take heavy pains to keep the space clean - if disordered. The current version of the Underground contains more than just the Black Market. It shares space with a record store, a barber shop and more. A sign of changing times, as well as the scars of having to squeeze more into less. The story of Toronto, in the past decade.Of particular note, there has been an expansion to include Indigenous art/products,with a particular bent on aggressive, anti colonial messaging (would recommend their parody movie posters, which tackle topics like white guilt and the residential school system).

Black Market is a staple of Queen West. It's been there as long as I can remember which means they're doing something right. They've got something for everyone and even if you don't pick something up it's well worth your time to browse and explore.
