I bought a gold herringbone necklace from Shamin in Metrotown several years ago. It was Christmas, and I was looking for a gift for my mom. After spending a good part of a day looking through the mall, I finally decided on the necklace. Before making the purchase, I checked the necklace very carefully, front and back, to ensure no defects. The sales rep offered to take it to the back to clean it and gift box it for me - I thought it was great customer service. However, when my mom unwrap the box and took out the necklace, it had a very noticeable bent in the middle of the chain! The smooth look of a herringbone necklace was ruined! I couldn't believe it! What happened? Did the rep damage the necklace while cleaning or did she switch it for a damaged one in the back? I wanted to take it back to the store, but my mom didn't want me to go through the trouble. But until this day, it always bothered me whenever I think about it. I trusted the store, but instead, they boxed a damaged necklace, which I didn't discovered because they gift boxed it. Maybe this is an anomaly, not the common practice at the store, but as an advice to all shoppers, trust only your own eyes and don't let the merchandise out of your sight. Skip the gift box and double check it's the one you selected before leaving the store.

We bought my engagement ring and both of our wedding bands from Shamin Diamonds, and we couldn’t be happier! Shahraz’s warm and friendly demeanour helped us to feel comfortable from start to finish. We went to Shamin jewellers to purchase our wedding bands earlier this year. We weren't happy with the selection we were seeing elsewhere so we went to Shamin jewellers to see what they had. I went in to purchase an engagement ring from Shahraz and he was so kind and consultative. He helped me customize a ring and it came out absolutely stunning. Shahraz is extremely knowledgeable and overall wonderful to deal with. I had a fully custom rose gold diamond ring & wedding band made, and everything was completed to perfection! He had prompt and clear communication, and the whole process was stress free even though I moved to the USA. I was involved from start to finish and received a high quality product on time. We’ve been going to Shahraz for a while and until now we’ve been happy. We purchased a wedding band and when we went to pick it up, it was the wrong size so he temporarily put a metal spacer on it. Over time the metal spacer scraped away all of the gold on the ring for a ring that we thought was pure gold and not gold plated. We brought it in and told him of the issue and he said that this was actually the display tungsten ring worth $20. So somehow he “accidentally” gave us a $20 display ring instead of the actual gold ring. For someone who has been in the industry for over 40 years it’s quite surprising and honestly very careless and negligent to give a customer the fake display ring instead of the actual ring.He claims he recently found the actual ring in the display case and was wondering where it came from. Instead of doing his due diligence and finding out where this ring came from, it doesn’t seem like he investigated it at all to check if a customer received the wrong ring. Honestly after this we lost all respect, trust, and credibility for Shahraz and are questioning the other jewelry we purchased from him and we will get those other items appraised.We received a refund and will be going elsewhere for my band but this is an extremely disappointing experience and you would expect more from a professional. I’m not sure how a professional jeweler could mistakenly give a customer a fake display ring and not know the difference between the actual one and the fake one. At the end of the day a marriage is a very sentimental experience and we got married with a fake ring…Mistakes happen but this is very careless. Despite receiving a refund, we are not happy with how he handled this situation and his attitude towards this mistake saying something along the lines of at least you guys have a story to talk about and what can you do about this.I would not personally recommend going to Shahraz and it might be good to get anything purchased from him appraised.

Shamins is definitely one of my favourite and best places to buy jewelry. Excellent value for wedding and engagement rings and stylish designs. (We found our engagement rings there and still love them). They can also do custom designs and also have some beautiful pieces if you want that beautiful solitaire you’ve been searching for.Shahraz is one of the most experienced jewellers you will find in B.C. and he gives you solid, reliable advice and exceptional customer service. We have been a customer of Shamins for over 20 years and have followed them from their Metrotown store to their current location. If you’re shopping for that important piece of jewelry be sure to check them out as we found their diamond selection among the best in town. The after sales service has been amazing, especially from Shahraz, and we’ve always appreciated his kind courteous advice over 20+ years.
