We found Rocky when searching for someone in the Toronto area to weld a steel table base for a glass top. Based on old photos of a table my parents had built in the 80's, Rocky felt confident he could help us reproduce it. He was willing to discuss details of the project and its execution. Other welder that we contacted often merely provided quotes, which didn't inspire much confidence.Rocky gave us a good quote and was very patient with us as we deliberated for weeks over the precise measurements of the piece. (The project wasn't super time sensitive, so Rocky slipped our project in between other larger projects.) We delivered final design documents to Rocky , he sourced the metal, had it laser cut precisely, and welded it. (He offered to work from the photos to design it for us, but I'm a bit of a control freak and also enjoyed this part of the project.)I've included a photo of the raw table base after welding was complete, as well as a photo of the finished table, after we had treated the steel with acid to oxidize it. (We did this step in our garage. Not for the faint of heart. I might suggest paying for this.) Rocky found us a source for the 3/4 tempered glass as well. We went for rounded corners

Rocky created some awesome custom chairs for my tattoo shop. I was looking for a last minute welding company to weld galvanized steel cross bars for kids obstacle course. R1 Welding & Modern Steel Co. was the only one who answered the phone just before a long weekend holiday! Rocky came over the very next day and completed our request the same day. Workmanship is excellent, will use Rocky again highly recommended!

Rocky built an inclinator (inclined tramway with cart) for me to install at my cottage. This was a complicated project, not least because it was based on 30 pages of hand drawings from me - no CAD! The project included 51 feet of track made up in sections and a cart made of multiple assemblies. Rocky took the time to understand it all and ask me when he needed more or different information to make all the parts. He and his firm created some CAD drawings where they needed them. Communication was great throughout the process. The end result is exactly what I wanted and the workmanship is superb. The project was completed on time and on budget.

Reached out to them for some custom shelves I needed for my home gym. Wanted the shelves to hold the weight I needed and to roll out. After a few conversations and some measurements, they came back with exactly what I needed. They're perfect and couldn't have turned out any better.Rocky was a pleasure to deal with and also a great guy. Professional, timely service and work completed invoiced as quoted.My company hired R1 Welding to weld some iron angles to support steel deck roofing from underneath. Rocky quoted the work weeks before and invoiced according to the quote. There were no surprises.We were coming in after the booth installer was ready which turned to be the Friday before Thanksgiving 2019 long weekend. Rocky came through on the public holiday Monday leaving his family aside for half day because we had a lift available that day. I appreciate that.Rocky had all equipment required in his mobile work truck. Very professional.Highly recommend.

We needed some window protective bars made. Our usual metal fabricator didn't come through after almost 3 weeks of waiting. We decided to look for someone else. We found R1 welding on Instagram. I have known Rocky since 2016 and used his services several times while working in the business of modifying shipping containers. He was always quick to respond when needed, provided honest and reasonable quotes and his work was professional and of the highest quality.In my current role as Production Manager for a Co-packing company I had a cardboard compactor break down. I had several contractors that advised me to buy a new machine and that welding the machine was not good option.Rocky came and inspected the machine, showed me the issues with the previous repairs and explained how he would repair and reinforce the part. He gave me a detailed estimate and then rearranged another scheduled job in order to get in immediately and fix our machine and save us from a mountain of cardboard that was piling up.Since the repair almost a month ago, Rocky has followed up twice to see how things were going and if there were any issues with his work. If you hire Rocky for any job you will never need to look again for another steel fabricator / welder.
