Julio and Dee are absolutely fantastic! We bring our lab for daycare twice a week and have also done private lessons with Julio. They are always professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating.Our lab, being an extremely energetic boy, gave us a TON of difficulty with loose leash walking and Julio advised that a prong collar may be necessary. Although we were initially adverse to the idea of a prong collar, Julio was fantastic at identifying the needs of our pup and breaking down the training steps with us so that we knew how to use the collar as a training tool and not a crutch. He helped us introduce the prong to our pup softly, and thanks to this, our pup does not mind the prong at all!We can't recommend this establishment enough. Thank you so much for everything Julio and Dee!

Julio is really great with dogs. He explains everything really well and I've seen a lot of improvements with my dog's behaviour. Highly recommend.

Doggie Basics daycare is my pup’s home away from home AND having done private lessons with Julio when Finn was a pup was a game changer.So first about the daycare - Finn looks forward to daycare every week and Julio and the team at Doggie Basics takes really great care of him. I love the videos that gets posted on Insta on all their adventure! When I drop Finn off at daycare, he doesn’t even look at me and just want to go play with his friends!Now private training lessons with Julio - as I said game changer. I tried at first to train Finn myself with YouTube videos and also took a group class and what I truly learned from Julio is that this is more about training ME, on how to train my dog than training the dog. Having the 1 on 1s, Julio was so patient in teaching and showing me how to say commands to Finn, correct my tone or body language and boy did Finn learn and listen once I got those things right. Finn is a 75lb labradoodle and I’m only 5”2 so being able to have Finn walk on leash properly without pulling, recall and being able to listen off leash was just so important to both Finn and I! While private lessons are more expensive, it was totally worth it. Having one instructor focused on us was more useful than in a group setting as the instructor just can’t be with everyone at the same time. Finn is still nuts and super high energy but being able to go off leash with confidence that he’ll listen and recall when needed is such a blessing.Thank you Julio and team for all that you do for us!!

Such a pleasure to be part of the Doggie Basics group classes. I have a high energy dog that I really need help with. Julio’s style of teaching and no judgment approach made me comfortable to ask questions, seek guidance outside of class and gain an understanding of my dogs behaviour and breed requirements. Starting off simple and building my skill level. These concepts are easily applied and used to teach new skills or refine old skills. I am more confident in managing my dog and my dog is receiving clear and consistent direction from me which makes her more balanced. I am feel empowered! Thank you Julio :-)

Doggie Basics is like a second home for my dog Shiloh for the last 3 years.Dee and Julio are very skilled in looking after dogs, and manage daycare and boarding in a very thoughtful and professional way. They always factor in and assess dogs personality and needs at their daycare.They helped my dog after she was adopted (she was very anxious) and this is THE only place where I trust to l leave her for daycare or boarding.Doggie Basics space is very open and has a large yard - and this is great as many dogs enjoy being outdoors!Dee and Julio go above and beyond and truly cares for each dog - my dog was throwing up for 1 month, and the vet could not determine the cause after many tests. Dee took time out of her day, spoke over the phone to speak to her personal experience, and we were able to narrow down likelihood of food allergies. That level of personal experience and care is invaluable!I cannot say enough - I really appreciate all that they have done (and continue to do) for Shiloh. I would give 6 stars if I could!Thank you!

We’ve tried a couple local dog training services and this was the best. Julio was an excellent trainer. Patient, clear and concise training. We only needed a couple of classes as we only needed a couple behavioural adjustments. Thank you Julio!

Julio and Dee are wonderful and caring dog trainers. Took group lessons for my puppy and am very satisfied with the results (although slow). Highly recommended!

Julio is by far and large the best dog trainer. Not only is he super professional and knows his stuff, but he is also ultra patient and takes the time to explain the steps such that we are able to take home and practice with our pup Bing Bong. His flexibility and ability to cater to your goals and aspirations for your doggo make it ultra worthwhile to book time with him. Our dog did puppy school etc. with other places but we really only saw results after spending time with Julio one on one. He clearly understands that it's about training the people rather than training the doggos! Results speak for themselves, our pup is far from perfect but miles ahead of where he was when he started, and also gets compliments when we are out in public about his good behaviour. A thousand thanks to Julio and Doggie Basics!! Money well spent.

Incredible training regime by Julio to help my dog, Taavi, become one who can begin to trust again. Taavi was a Jindo-rescue from Korea, terrified and stuck indoors for the past 4 months. I was starting to lose hope until I reached out to Doggie Basics & their 1:1 private training services. I was in disbelief when Julio initially told me he's able to bring Taavi out for a walk in 2 weeks- and to my surprise, he did it! In just a few sessions, Taavi had transformed significantly. Seeing Taavi have another chance of life from years of abuse prior to his rescue, I cannot be more happierJulio had been incredibly patient, communicative, informative. He works and cares with dogs with a great heart full of compassion. I highly recommend anyone who have a fearful and anxious dog to reach out. Doggie Basics has provided the push that Taavi needed to begin breaking the bubble of fear.

I started bringing my dog to Doggie Basics about 5 months ago for daycare. I wanted him to socialize in an environment with professionals present to supervise, and structured play and rest times.I chose Doggie Basics because my sister brought her dog here and always raved about how professional and knowledgeable they were. This was very clear during our assessment. They were able to accurately describe my dog's behaviour. They have been very patient with him and always update me on his progress in daycare. I have seen a positive change in his behaviour at drop-off - he whines much less when I leave (he's more than happy to go in, he's just really attached to me). On days with poor weather conditions, the dogs use a treadmill so they always go home tired and happy!I recently started bringing my dog to training here for his leash reactivity. We have been to other trainers before but without a doubt, I have seen more progress and results in 2 sessions with Julio than we did in 12 sessions with our previous trainer. I am so impressed with our progress. Julio is very patient with us and he explains everything in detail. If you have a question about the training they are easily accessible by phone. They have always responded within a reasonable amount of time.I highly recommend them for both doggy daycare and training.Thank you Doggie Basics!!
