La banquise has the most famous poutine, chez Claudette has the most québécois poutine, hot dog Lafayette has the best diner poutine, La Panthère verte has the best vegan poutine, Patati Patata has the best late night street festival poutine, but Mama food, has the best value poutine. Au Québec. Hands down. $6.99 for a small poutine just a stones throw from the only beach for thousands of kilometres? The perfect end to a long bike ride and a swim to cool down? An accompaniment to that bottle of wine you bought to the park? Who else but the genius combination of Ashok the Accountant and Tony the German Indian who speaks 17 languages and is the king of Verdun restaurants could bring you such fresh home made sauce, such deliciously stringy cheese curds, on top of the sound of those perfectly crinkling fries in the super clean deep frier? When other poutines go to bed, they dream of being this poutine. When I go to sleep, I dream that I am still at Mama Food.
