Applewood Retirement Residence

Since moving my dad into Applewood a few years ago we have had constant peace of mind knowing that he is well taken care of and yet has his independence. The staff at Applewood have always gone above and beyond to ensure a wonderful place for everyone. I now have other family members living at Applewood and we would highly recommend this residence to anyone. They are the best!!!

Mom has lived at Applewood for 7 years & it has been her home where staff are kind & caring, going beyond their job descriptions to help whoever needs it. All the staff, from top to bottom, have kept their residents safe during the Covid epidemic but also tried to make life interesting & fun in spite of all the extra work they've had to do. Applewood is at the top of any list of long term homes anywhere as far as we are concerned!

Applewood may not be the newest or fanciest home in the area, but the compassion and homey feel can't be matched. Having been a member of the employee team for 10 years, I can say that, without a doubt, the compassion and dedication of our staff exceeds standards. We strive to satisfy each resident'sIndividual needs and wants to the best of our ability on a daily basis. Don't take my word for it, come for a tour or trial stay, and see for yourself. I am sure that you or your loved one will feel right at home and not want to leave.

Thirty days in Applewood, Peterborough, Ontario provided me with exactly the R&R I most needed after hip surgery. The professional nursing and PSW care available to me were enormously reassuring. The meals were excellent. I enjoyed a serviced, spacious, and comfortable room with bathroom and balcony at an affordable price and the opportunity to exercise regularly both inside and outside the building in a safe and delightful environment. My good fortune to recuperate among others in a situation like mine as well as to socialize with interesting long-term residents, added to my satisfaction and education.All staff at Applewood are welcoming, caring, efficient, patient, and courteous. I am delighted to have made the decision to spend 30 days here. Applewood’s services, activities and facilities guaranteed simpler and faster recuperation for me and, of equal importance, essential reassurance, relief, and respite for my wife!I highly recommend Applewood and its attentive and conscientious staff for post-surgery rehabilitation.

Applewood Retirement Residence is the best retirement home in town! Cozy atmosphere, kind-hearted team members, amazing services...what more could you ask for? Applewood took such great care of one of our residents while we were under construction, we are forever appreciative...thank you!!!

I stayed at Applewood for 4 weeks while recovering from surgery .I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not what I thought a retirement home would be. The staff and residents were very kind and helpful. The rooms grounds and patio were ideal for me to keep my dog with me .I was happy to be treated to home style meals that reminded me of home. I would not be afraid to return to Applewood at any time for a short or permanent stay.

We toured all of the Peterborough retirement residences when we were looking for a spot for my father. Applewood immediately felt warm and welcoming. We have never regretted the decision. They have provided a home-like atmosphere, with caring staff, and plenty of activities for those so inclined. The management response during this COVID pandemic has been nothing short of heroic. Not a single case. Thank you for your providing a home for my dad!

My mom moved into Applewood Retirement Residence about 6 months ago and, the move has been a very positive one. The atmosphere at the retirement residence is about as close to a feeling of home as you can get. The rooms are bright, spacious, nicely-decorated, comfortable, and also kept very clean. The common areas are lovely; and the meals are nutritious, delicious, and well-presented. Laurie - the events coordinator - works very hard at planning a wide variety of wonderful events for the residents. And, each and every one of the staff at Applewood are absolutely amazing! They are skilled, hard-working professionals but also very caring, compassionate, kind, and always willing to take the time to lend a helping hand. I would highly recommend Applewood to anyone who requires additional personal care and support and is seeking a suitable retirement residence that will meet their needs.

Our family couldn't be happier with Applewood Retirement Residence. Applewood is a very welcoming home and the staff are very caring and compassionate.....always friendly and welcoming. Our Mom is constantly telling us how lovely all of the staff are and how kindly she is being treated. She also often speaks of how much she LOVES the food :) Applewood was an easy choice after visiting other homes in Peterborough and our mother couldn't be happier here. It's been such a relief for our family knowing our Mom is so content and well cared for. This is an easy 5 star review for us.

My husband and I visited every retirement home in the Peterborough area and decided Applewood was the best place for my Mother. The size of the room, the private balcony, the general ambiance and the friendly staff were all key factors in our decision. My Mother has been at Applewood for almost 2 months and is glad she made the move. She loves the staff and has enjoyed improved health since moving in. I would definitely recommend Applewood Retirement Residence.
