Princess Cinemas

Great cinema for foreign and independent films. With two screens in one building, and a single one around the corner, there’s always a lot of choice, although the older cinema is a little run down. Snacks are typical, but the inclusion of beer and wine is a big plus. Great spot in Waterloo.

I think Princess Cinemas are treasures in the heart of the Waterloo region. If you prefer a newer-looking cinema, Princess Twin would be a better option for you than Princess Original. Princess Original is really old and has the potential to become a museum. I personally love them both!

A wonderful cinema that seems to show a wide range of foreign, independent, and cult classic films. Most recently, I’ve seen Rocky Horror Picture Show on halloween, and The Menu there just last night. The theatre it self has a very cozy atmosphere and I also bought a very delicious hot apple cider there. Would recommend checking out what they’re (Or the Princess Twin, which I have yet to visit) playing at time!

Authentic cinema with a cool old vibe!. An excellent physicist works at the front desk. He is kind and professional. I'm glad I discovered this cinema.

A great and weird cineme. The sound is good the screen is good. The seating has a really shallow rake and are not especially comfortable. It is also up some fairly steep stairs and I am not sure if there's an elevator.

Princess is my favourite cinema! Both locations are great! The experience you get there is very personal, nothing like what you’d get at the Cineplex. The staff are friendly and up for a nice chat over films.Curation of the movies is excellent. From documentaries to cult classics and independent movies, you never feel like you live in a small city. I remember I was looking for screenings of ‘The Room’ when I lived in Toronto, but there were none, whereas The Princess in our very own Waterloo had them every month or so.I visited the cinema quite a lot during covid, and I felt absolutely safe in terms of social distancing, ventilation, sanitizing, and everything else.Their snack bar has beers, cookie dough, and hot apple cider in the winter!Although the cinema is closing again due to the restrictions, I know where I’ll be getting my popcorn for when I want to watch movies at home! They are open Tuesdays to Saturdays for that!They offer private bookings for your choice of movie for social bubbles of up to 10 people during the covid restrictions as well!What else can I say? :)

Nice little theatre, if you're looking for the old theatre feels

Original downtown cinema screen with one theater and a small concession stand. Comfy seats, well decorated, not very accessible to those with mobility issues as there are many stairs. No alcohol available for purchase, but the Twin cinema across the street does. An older cinema, but often empty meaning you get a very private viewing experience. Had a lovely time here.
