Freedom Dog Rescue
Freedom Dog Rescue is an amazing organization. When you foster or adopt a dog, you become part of a community/family that will always be there to support you through the ups and downs of pet ownership. There is no address because Freedom is completely made up of volunteers who open their home and hearts to the dogs they have in care. The phone number listed on Google is the private mobile phone number of a person on the board of directors. The adoption process is simple. Though it seems lengthy, it takes sometimes less than a week or two to adopt a dog. The steps taken are necessary precautions that almost all rescues follow to ensure the dog goes to the best home possible and to set each dog up for long term success. They are a rescue. Not a store. The team of volunteers (even those on the board) each have their own full time jobs, school, family and personal lives. Yet, they sacrifice their own time and money to foster, volunteer, and host events. They open their homes and hearts because they truly love dogs and believe in the cause.Throughout the pandemic, this team of volunteers continued to operate as front line workers. Their tireless work and amazing ethic and morale continues to impress me. So, yes, sometimes it takes a little more than a day or two to reply to correspondence but, there are hundreds of messages coming in a day and only a handful of volunteers to answer them all. In the end, they do respond to every single message they receive and not just to selected applicants.I understand that some people might be disappointed not to have been selected for the adoption of a dog. The good news is that there are other dogs who need families too. Keep working with Freedom. Maybe you will find the right fit. Please know that it is not always an easy job to select a furever home from 3 amazing applicants. It is not easy to be a foster parent and to invite a dog into your family only to have to say goodbye to a dog you have come to love so that you can make space to save another.I love being at Freedom events and fundraisers. The team always seems to be having so much fun. There are smiles all around and the energy is contagious. The events are always creative and innovative.Freedom even has a palliative program where they care for dogs that other owners, shelters or rescues have surrendered to Freedom due to a terminal illness or geriatric status. Freedom cares for these dogs until they die (knowing they may not recoup all the money on medical expenses, etc).To say that Freedom gives dogs another chance is an understatement. Freedom stands by your side even after you have adopted a dog. The Freedom team is always there.Thank you for being an extended family for so many dogs and people, Freedom.Job well done! I love you all!My little boy, Wendall (a Freedom alumni), is so thankful and so am I!xoxo

Freedom Dog Rescue
Top notch volunteers and organization who work tirelessly to support the welfare of animals. I highly recommend fostering and/or adopting a poochie from FDR.

Amazing rescue! It is incredible how many dogs they have been able to help while being 100% volunteer run.

My experience is not good. I try calling them and I get a voice mail to leave a message and it is full. There is no way of speaking to someone no address I could find, to talk about a certain pet on their web site. I have filled out adoption applications for a dog. And it says. Will respond in two to three day's. It has been over a week and no reply.

Freedom Dog Rescue
Very responsive to requests on social media. I am disappointed to see some negative reviews in Google. People fail to recognize that this organization is run strictly by volunteers who are stretched to the limit. They are looking after the best interest of the dogs in their care and strive to find the best home for each dog. I adopted a senior over a year ago and it was a very good experience.

They were professional and easy to deal with. My dog's foster parent was competent and level-headed. If I'm lucky enough in the future adopt a second dog, I will try Freedom first. I had previous unsuccessful attempts to get a dog with other rescues before dealing with Freedom. To everyone saying that they or their kids are upset, please remember they are not obligated to give you a dog. Freedom owns these dogs and they take the future of them very seriously. Their primary concern is finding the best fit, not who submitted their application first or who's kids want the dog the most.I would suggest not getting your kids pumped up for a specific dog because there is no guarantee your home will be right for that particular dog. Use it as a learning experience. Kids need to learn to deal with failure and not always getting what they want in order to develop into successful adults.

We adopted our dogs a bit over a year ago. I had never adopted from a rescue before so at first I was a little afraid that the process looked long and intense. However, the whole process went smoothly and faster than we expected. The foster parents were friendly and had great communication. We were very pleased with our experience.

They really do care about the dogs but unfortunately they ONLY care about the dogs and not the people who take care of them by fostering or adopting them. I had 2 years of experience with this organization and in most cases it was great as long as things were going well. Unfortunately when faced with difficulties their communication was extremely lacking and there weren't enough resources. I would like to see better treatment, communication, respect and resources that could result in a wonderful experiencebut until that happens I would recommend getting a dog elsewhere.
