This company was recently contracted in my area to remove trees around electrical lines. During the entire day i witnessed the crew rudely throw all my backyard belongings into a corner, which is fine if they need to work but do it with respect for another person's belongings because not only did they break my stuff but left it all where they threw it. After that they dragged the cut branches through the mud and down my driveway, leaving mud all over my windows and siding. But that is not even close to the most disturbing thing of this whole experience. The flat out disrespect they displayed towards the health and safety of me and my family on MY property is so disturbing. I witnessed the crew on multiple occasions spit all over my backyard grass and driveway. I would never find that professional ESPECIALLY with such a health crisis currently happening in our country. I also reached out to the company by phone and spoke to the receptionist. I have given them plenty of time to fix any bit of this or even offer an apology and i couldnt even get that from them. If i could give negative stars on this review i most definitely would

I had them remove 2 trees near our newly roofed barn, grind the stumps down, and trim up 3 large catalpa trees. They came out for the estimate when they said they would unlike many others (even larger companies) in the area who didn't show up or gave a run around and full of excuses. The estimate was very reasonable and fair for the work to be done. Everything was itemized allowing me to change up some of the work to be done. I really liked that instead of just 1 lump sum. They scheduled the service and were here on time.The 3 trees that were trimmed were done very well. They didn't butcher the trees and all the debris was quickly cleaned up as they went and raked up afterwards. Couldn't even tell they were here. 2 trees were removed with care so as not to damage our barn. We asked to have the larger portions left, so they chipped up and removed all the small brush and branches. Again, everything was cleaned up afterwards. They returned a couple days later for the stump grinding which was done quickly and cleanly.Both crews were extremely professional, listening to what we wanted done and asking questions/offering suggestions to make sure we were on the same page.I would definitely have them return for other tree services and highly recommend them to others.

Kappen was hired by DTE to clear and remove under and near power lines. Their arborist contacted me at the outset to go over what they were doing and he made some minor changes to their plan based on my concerns. They did an absolutely fantastic job.After their first pass there were partial tree limbs and trunks strewn about as well as some other things not touched but, without me saying a thing, that stuff was all cleaned up the following week.They obviously took great care avoiding what we had planted on the ground. Thought they were all done yet a few days later they had returned with different equipment to shred. They even opened up a trench to help with drainage.Kappen Tree Service, I think, is helping to restore DTE's tattered image and I have zero complaints.

City of Roseville hired them to trim tree limbs away from power lines. They removed my cable line from house. When they reattached, cracked my siding, didn't tap into wood, screw pulled loose from house and is pulling my siding down. They left equipment behind. I found them and returned their equipment. An act of honesty and integrity. I have called since last week to no avail. We have 4 days of rain coming. If its not corrected, the rain behind the siding will pull all my siding down. Im angry. Furthermore, liquor bottles left by them in my neighbors yard.

I was startled by a chainsaw noise near our house. The noise was cause by Kappen's rude crew who came unannounced to mutilate our tree on our property - result of their horrible attack shown on the picture.

Horrific job! They destroyed my beautiful 22 year old willow tree! They also left a huge mess of trees they cut in the front of my yard. Do not be a victim and let them destroy your property. Call Shiver Tree Service instead. I’m deeply saddened that so many companies like this take no pride in their work.

It's nice to know there's companies doing work in my but it's even nicer to know that their workers can tell me it's none of my business when I asked if they're just cleaning up or if they're cutting more downSo nice to know the attitude might not be worth the paying for there work

Very rude to me. Didnt want to provide information on who hired them and why they were on my lawn ruining it and the trees in the back yard. Didn't takecare about not harming my lilac bush or decorative fencing or even ask if they could remove it before driving on my lawn. When they came to my car door when I could finally leave my house today they informed me that they would be using it again tomorrow to finish the job, I tried to explain how I would prefer them not and would park my car further in my driveway if I had to. They have a huge parking lot they can use down the way. They didnt seem to care and just said well if you do that you will be stuck with the ditches we left in your lawn today. Very rude!

From previous reviews, it seems Kappen draws a lot of ire from their tree-trimming work for DTE. I life in an area of Clinton Township with lots of trees around the wires and DTE has sent Kappen to my place three or four times the past few years. Their crews have always been polite, announced themselves before entering my back yard, and I've had no issues with them doing what they need to do on my property. Most recently, they trimmed around my transformer in preparation for a service change. The crew was friendly and did great work. My only complaint was that they took out a planter along my driveway when they backed out. I emailed Kappen pictures of the damage along with an itemized list for my replacement cost then followed up with a voicemail. The next working day, Dave called me back and arranged a visit two days later. Today he stopped by to see the damage and reimbursed me on the spot. I have great appreciation and respect for a company that will quickly admit a problem and make things right.
