Too Good To Go Canada
I am addicted to this app and obsessed with its mission. I was able to win heavily discounted meals and cakes which most importantly, put a smile on my family and friends' faces. In this economy, especially in Toronto, the rising costs of food causes many people to deal with food insecurity. This company helps solve this as well as fighting food waste and decreasing C02 emissions. DO NOT listen to the negative reviews as there are plenty of restaurants on the app and hundreds of options. The interface is easy to use and purchasing a surprise food bad raises endorphins from the excitement. I am writing this review to pay it forward, as TGTG has helped me and so many. I hope this can inspire others to download and reap the rewards as I have.

I bought a meal on this app from Puseteri’s on Avenue road in Toronto. There were 2 items- eggplant parmigiana and vegetable lasagne. Both had expired the day before. They didn’t taste great and the next day I felt sick. I’m all for preventing food waste but selling food past the expiry date is a bit risky. Won’t be doing that again.

Bought items 4 times from 3 different places. It's a really good deal for good food. Sure, the food is not fresh, but they are still good to eat and a luxury. I like the current selection and I wish there were more food options. Looking forward to all the new eateries that join Too Good to Go because food waste is a very big issue.

Deals are mostly garbage and false advertising (inflated prices/deals, description of items). Prepared meals = muffins, Thai food and meats = bag of frozen chicken backs. “Deal” in photo supposedly worth 21 dollars? Week old burned, dry, stale 3 chicken wings. The other thing- impossible to get in touch with them to get a refund. Horrible customer service

1) Wrongfully charging taxes on bakery items.2) Wrong value of items. Stores can inflate every order and claim it's worth $24 when it's $20, but still charge you the same amount. TGTG customer service will simply say it's good value and not even refund a pro-rated amount.Canadian laws outline what quantity and type of bakery items purchased (which most bakeries orders will meet or exceed) would make the order tax exempt.

Lets start by saying this company has horrible customer service. On top of that, the orders your 'saving' usually cost you more then if you just went to the store and bought it directly. Food stale and not edible. If you miss your pickup time, customer service unable to help. Even if the order was closed by the restaurant and is still open.Customer service goes back on its word and won't help you with refund.Don't bother, your better off just buying the food directly and getting better quality and lower prices!

As anyone will agree, the concept is praiseworthy, but it is the execution by the participating businesses that needs to be improved. I am not sure if there is any monitoring of the food offered. We ordered from two participating outlets and were disappointed with both. For one, derived value based on the quantity and quality provided to the purchasers does not come anywhere close to the value advertised - was $24 for both places (we paid $8 for each). Secondly, one outlet provided curry based food directly in a cardboard box which was very messy. Another provided without any required sauces customary for that cusine. This being a new concept which we appreciate a lot, I am not naming the businesses here, but have submitted a review for one of them on the app. Hoping to hear soon from the Too Good To Go management.

I loved the whole idea of to-be-wasted-food rescue concept, so I decided to give it a try.Picked up a surprise bag for the first time. Since it was provided from supermarket, I expected vegetables & fruits. However they were all pantry items. Am pretty sure all the canned items, dry pasta were high quality items. They were just past “best before”date.Only thing was there were items that I would not normally consume such as a 1 liter of apple juice, package of jello, cubed beef stock. I hated food going waste, so had to figure out what I could do with that. Well, it was supposed to be a surprise bag, so you need to risk some surprise items I guess. Also I inquired Too Good To Go customer service regarding expired canned products, this was the answer I got.“For shelf-stable foods like canned items, we generally tell our stores not to include any cans that are over a year old to a Surprise bag.”It was good to know because I spent some time on their website including FAQ section, could not find clear answer exactly how old it could be after best before date.Update #1- I gave it another try with prepared food from take out restaurant this time. It was fresh food leftover at the end of the day for $5.99 but it was definately worth $18. Amazing.I think if you try the restaurant that they make fresh food everyday, there is a less risk of picking up stale food. And again I support the idea of saving food waste!Update #2Third time I tried and this time I change my ratings to 5 stars. I officially like this concept. You just need strategy.First of all I pinned two areas( home & work) with the distance of 1km radiance and picked a couple of places with the rating of at leat 4 stars and saved as my favorites.Secondly I tried to save the places that I know what I would expect to get. For example if I pick the specialized places such as rotisserie chicken place, Greek pastry place, bagel store, I can minimize surprises.I paid $5.88 and got still- really-fresh greek stuffed pastries easily worth $18. Sucess!!!Thank you Too Good to go Canada for this great ideas!!#Update #3( April 28,2023)This time I picked up 1 L each of organic grass fed beef bone broth & organic chocken broth from Homegrown Juice. They normally charge $18 for 650ml broth on thier website. Broth was made 4 dats ago and kept frozen. Fantastic deal!!#Update #4 ( June 30 2023)This time I picked up a day old 2 medium size sour dough bread, 3 peaces of mini pastries, 1 sourdough baguette for $6.77 from my neighbourhood cute coffee shop.I made sure that I picked the place with at least 4.0 plus ratings and this place was 4.6. I was very happy with my pick up.

I ordered Pizza Pizza using the app and when time for pickup the counter people told me that they stop honouring the order because they have issues with the company. I ask when they started not honouring the order and told me that its been two weeks now. I still see in the apps their location still accepting order? very misleading the people that uses the app and to be driving 2km to pick? not worth it. I will wait for my refund and see what happens

I tried Too good to go app to put a reservation on Chinese Restaurant at 7 Glenwatford Scarborough. The advertisement is $28 dollars of food for the price of $7.88 plus tax…about $9 dollars and change. So I went to pick up the “surprise package “…I was I indeed surprise as it was bones and a piece of steamed chicken, this is definitely NOT worth $28 dollars! THIS IS CLASSIC FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!I will NEVER RECOMMEND THIS APP TOO GOOD TO GO, much as I want to save food but I don’t want to be lied to!
