I'm a new(ish) customer and I was surprised to see mixed reviews on here. I've ordered firewood from just about everywhere in southern Maine and have found Southern Maine Firewood to have the best combo of fast delivery, lots of oak, and consistent splits, all for prices comparable to places selling much lower quality. I've bought both green and seasoned from them, and while there was some green in with the seasoned cords, it was so minimal I wouldn't have mentioned it but for other reviewers' comments. Delivery drivers have been fine, and Wendy is outstanding as other reviewers have mentioned.

I ordered one cord of kiln dried wood for 500 bucks ( ! ) and got a cord which was 40% KINDLING — sticks no bigger than my wrist. I called and spoke with Wendy who was nice and all, but nothing was done. I left several messages which were never returned. They’re gonna burn you and leave you with the ashes.

If you call in April for seasoned fire wood delivery in September, and they tell you, you're on the list". Just know there is no "list" and no response when you call to confirm delivery. Order elsewhere."

I've been ordering four cords of green firewood each spring for a number of years. They have always delivered a good quality mix of hardwoods at the promised time. Drivers are friendly and put the wood where I request (which is a little tricky in my case).

In 2015 Southern Maine Firewood came to our house to deliver 2 cords of seasoned firewood. The driver backed down an access road to dump the load by our woodshed. Upon lifting the bucket and driving forward he crashed into a beautiful old growth apple tree. The tree crashed down on top of the truck and tore off the side view mirror. What ensued was almost unbelievable. The driver unleashed a stream of profanity, started berating me as if it was my fault that he drove into the tree and started screaming that my insurance would be paying for the damage. How about, Hey

I've gotten good wood from them before but last year I ordered two cords of seasoned wood. I got green wood that did not burn well. I called many times and left messages and my calls were never returned. I will not order wood from them again.

I called this morning looking for small pieces of wood to burn in a tiny camp stove, and was lucky enough to have Wendy answer the phone. She was unbelievably informative and went way out of her way to look up on Facebook marketplace a place that might sell tiny little wood scraps. I was successful in my pursuit because of her help, and we will come regularly to buy our cordwood from here in the future :-) Thank you Wendy!
