Amazing Bakery on Hastings!! Every item is fresh and baked to perfection. The mocha cream horns are to die for!

It has been a pleasure visiting Valley Bakery for the past many years. Over the years, I have been fortunate to be able to try many different desserts at this location. All of the baking is very good quality and has stayed surprisingly consistent for the past decade of visiting. I personally enjoy the lemon and lime tarts, shortbread cookies with icing and many different cakes that they offer. Great job to the owner and staff for doing a fine job. I hope that you can continue outputting quality baking for many years to come.

Ever since I was a child, a visit to my grandparents' home in the Heights wasn't complete without a delightful indulgence from Valley Bakery. Over the years, I have seen shops come and go in the neighbourhood, but Valley Bakery has remained a steadfast presence, providing a comforting and delicious constant in an ever-changing world.Valley Bakery, in its longevity and consistency, speaks volumes about the values they uphold. I have been a VB customer for over 15 years. It was always the best bakery in Burnaby IMO but, that has changed. Over my past several stops I have noticed a significant decline in customer service and quality of their products. The staff at best are disinterested, I spent a fair amount of time observing how they interacted with their customers and how the employees interacted with each other. Their interaction with customers was minimal and they couldn't way to shuffle people out the door. Will be going to Fortuna Bakery in the future.

One of my favourite bakeries in Burnaby. I've been coming here since I was a small kid, and I will continue to shop here as long as I can. A great selection of cakes, cookies and pastries (at a great price - all the cookies in my photo for only $12.50). It's a great place to come before a party or just to bring a little treat home for the people you live with. I highly recommend it! They appreciate when you pay cash because they only have 1 debit/credit machine and it gets very busy!

A take out dessert place with huge selections of sweets from bakery goods, various butter cookies, decorated cupcakes, customized cakes... etc. My favorites are whipped cream donut and lemon buttefly cake. They've limited 4 customers each time and masks are now mandatoryin the store, but one of the lady didn't wear her gloves when she was serving a customer before me. Hope they can be more concerned about it.

Visited at 10am on a Monday the day before valentine's day. Bakery was dead and display cases had major condensation inside the windows. Shelves & display cases were approx. 50% empty. I purchased dinner rolls as staff brought them out to the shelves during my visit but found them lacking their usual buttery taste. Even though I was the only customer when I entered the bakery I still had to wait 4 minutes before any staff acknowledged me (2 others walked by behind the counter before the 3rd one asked me if anyone helped me yet .. really?). I always purchase a 7 heart shaped buttercream cake every year just before vday but to my shock this year the cashier charged me $54.95 for a much smaller and inferior (in height/layers/taste) cake. Prices were not listed where the heart cake was so I just assumed that it was the usual same price as the 7" square (which in fact is a way better value with more layers) for $45 ish. Also purchased cream donuts which were not fresh & whip cream ratio was off compared to pre pandemic (baked part was previously frozen). We have been patrons of valley bakery for decades. The only reason we kept enduring the hit/miss quality of their service & goods was their old school buttercream cakes. Post pandemic we noticed the butter content in their buttercream icing is diminishing which greatly affects the taste. We will placing valley bakery far in the valley of our minds from now on."

I am so glad and grateful that Valley Bakery is still around all these years! I use to go to the elementary school on Gilmore Street and close to Valley Bakery and as a treat from my Mother, she would take me to the Bakery after school for a sweet delicious mocha pastry, which I still love to this day. All the staff were amazing and always very kind and sweet and if you were a regular customer they would call out your name and welcome you with a big smile and greeting! Valley Bakery is a landmark in our community and its success is not only their delicious cakes, pastries, cookies, loaves of bread and snacks, it’s because of the talented baker/owner Jack and his friendly team. I believe even if you have great unique specialty products and delicious, you must have a great support staff and great customer service with excellent knowledge of all the products they offer as this is what makes repeat happy customers to be successful as Valley Bakery has with the likes of Wendy and Della, who are both veterans at Valley Bakery and both super awesome friendly helpful knowledgeable of everything and real old school customer service and caring for the customers needs to do their best to make their customers happy and satisfied plus always with laughter and charm. Plus a recent addition to the team is Daniella, who is super sweet helpful kind and caring for all her customers' needs to make them happy and appreciated! Thank you ladies for always being the best and always a pleasure seeing you every time whenever I’m craving my favourite mocha pastry and cookies! I sincerely suggest that you go visit Valley Bakery and the great team whenever you’re in North Burnaby as you won’t be disappointed and for sure walk out with a few delicious treats!

I was happy to see that this bakery is still around after being in the same neighbourhood for decades. I had the opportunity to check out the place again after a long absence. They provided an assortment of baked goodies for the holidays – Christmas cake, Christmas stollen, sugar cookies, pastries and cakes. I only bought a loaf of currant bread which was baked to perfection. It had plenty of currants which was still fresh after a couple of days. Not like other bakeries that have a few bits of raisins in each slice. It was under $5 a loaf. I don’t mind paying a bit extra if it’s good. I wasn’t disappointed.They sell an assortment of breads, rolls, cookies, and cakes. Unfortunately, if you’re one or two people, it doesn’t work if you have to buy 12. They don’t offer single quantities to purchase. They also sell vegan products along with frozen puff pastry.My only concern is that it’s a small place and having more than 15 patrons inside made me feel a little uneasy with Covid. Too bad they didn’t limit a certain number of people inside.
