Kids & Company

We've had a great experience with Kids & Company. Our daughter has been attending for 1.5 years and she absolutely loves it. She runs into the classroom each morning with a big smile on her face, looking for all her teachers and friends :) The staff have always been helpful and the director is so warm and welcoming!

Assistant Director and Toddler teacher Brodie being investigated for Child abuse and hitting a toddler in the room my son was in. wouldn’t recommend this daycare after finding this out through other parents.

Our son went here for 1.5 years as a toddler to preschool until we moved. We loved it here! Our son loved his teachers and friends and the staff were great with him--he was always excited to go in the mornings. Food was tasty as he always ate up everything including the evening snacks and the recipes online were a great resource. The camera was great although sometimes it wasn't working (I think there are connectivity issues) and it was nice to have that reassurance since we were not allowed in when we first started because of COVID. Parking is an issue since it's beside the Farm Boy--it would be great if they were allowed to designate a pickup/dropoff spot for themselves. They were also very comunicative through email and responded quickly whenever we had a question/concern. The daily photos in Kindertales and information about his day were great as they came through in real-time on the app. Staff was always very caring and friendly and we would have stayed if our commute hadn't changed and they had a location closer to the east end. They have great hours--open from at least 8am to 6pm, so allows for some flexibility in pickup times. Overall, would definitely recommend this daycare!

Amazing place for kids!

Our 11-month-old daughter began at the Westboro location of Kids & Company in March 2018, we did one week of part-time/transition, and two full-time four-day. The care was woefully inadequate and far below the “high quality” the company advertised. We did voice our concerns but did not see any action on the issues we raised and we could not in good conscious leave our daughter in a situation that was neglectful. Here is a factual overview of our experience with their care which led us to withdraw our child• Staff turnover: only one full-time staff present during our transition week remained full-time in the infant rooms two weeks later – and not in the room our daughter was to continue in. Our daughter had four different “head teachers” in three short weeks.  For only one staff exit were we informed of the change prior to the staff member leaving. New staff were not introduced formally, and only two made effort to introduce themselves at drop-off/pick up. One day I arrived for pick up to find two people I had never seen before caring for my daughter. They did not introduce themselves and were not wearing nametags. There was no apparent overlap between staff, with clearly no time for proper training or transfer of information about children.• On four days there were missed formula feedings, resulting in 4-5 hour windows without any feeding of our 11 month old daughter.  On each occasion the issue was raised with the carer and twice with the centre director, who were apologetic but the problem continued.• No outside time whatsoever, despite advertised outdoor time of twice a day. Only one day did the weather conditions meet the outdoor policy for not going out. This issue was raised with the Director, and no change was made.• At last day in care, on web cam we saw that our daughter was strapped in chair for over an hour – less than 15 minutes of which were for lunch feeding, rest of time she had no toys or food, just restrained while carer cleaned and dealt with other children. Daughter was also restrained in chair upon pick up. From communication with carer it seems daughter was being restrained in a dining chair without activity (not exersaucer or playpen) whenever another child needed a diaper change.• No sign of advertised “proprietary programs” in use for infant development, including no baby sign language or French language in use.- Poopy diaper on pick up five days in a row, two days where diaper had not been changed since before afternoon nap.• Daughter had been continually switched between rooms and cribs.• Director non-responsive to communication – 48 hours after emailing concern had to email again asking for response, and in another case no response to email. From her responses, it is clear she did not have the time to do basic oversight/training of employees or respond to parent concerns given staff hiring, kitchen work and other issues. Neither staff nor Director followed up on concerns to inquire whether things were successfully resolved.• Two calls to head office with concerns were not returned.• Poor reporting: there are indications that reports given to us at end of day were estimates at best:  when asking different staff for hours of nap, of whether bottle was given, report differed from what staff told us orally. We were told by staff what is written at end of day in report is from memory often by staff who was not present earlier in day or involved in activity (morning nap, lunch feeding) for which they are entering the report. There does not appear to be a system in place for recording basic information to ensure information to parents is correct. We also had no report one day (was told e-version was being sent by app, but never appeared), and no response when we raised it as an issue.

We had a fantastic experience with Kids and Company. The teachers were all very friendly and took excellent care of our son. The food was abundant, as our little guy has a very healthy appetite. He was always clean, dry, and happy when we picked him up.

Our time at Kids & Company has been great. The centre is clean, staff are helpful, and our daughter is always happy when we pick her up. The education and unique programming (Alpha Mania, Mini Masters, etc.) is amazing; our daughter has learned an incredible amount in such a short time!

The management and teacher very nice and good place.

I wish there were negative stars to give to this daycare, I would have given that. We started in July for my 2 years old son and had the worst experience at their eagleson location. Their Cry it out method has caused so much medical issues for our kid and till now he gets scared with the closed door.No empathy for a crying child or a hungry kid. They won’t show your kid on camera if he is crying. Don’t fall into the trap of camera monitoring.

Our daughter has been in this daycare since March 2021. She did not speak English back then (she is French), and yet the team went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable. She is now bilingual thanks to their incredible work. She is also very happy there and made a lot of friends. She is always happy when we drop her off and always playing and laughing when we pick her up. This place is amazing and we highly recommend it +++
