Staybridge Suites Calgary Airport, an IHG Hotel

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 5 weeks following a knee replacement surgery in Calgary. Right from the beginning the staff were excellent. Front desk staff were very friendly and worked hard to ensure everything about our stay was satisfactory. House keeping ladies were amazing, ensuring we had everything we needed. The breakfast offered at this hotel is top notch and the ladies working in the breakfast area are so pleasant and friendly, started the day off on a positive note.The facility and the rooms were very clean even though while we were there construction was on going at the front desk and main hotel areas. The rooms are spacious and are supplied with everything you would need. All the staff even maintenance people were very friendly and we got to know these people during our long stay.I would definitely recommend this hotel for long or short stays.

Check in was fast and the service was friendly.Unfortunately the room we stayed in was dirty (suite). The bedding and towels were clean but everything else we were afraid to touch, I laid out a extra blanket supplied over the couch so we wouldn't need to touch it. There were a couple chairs in the kitchenette that has hardened crust all over the seats. Also in the bedroom there was a heater/air conditioner that was so loud we had to turn it off because the rattling was keeping us awake.The included breakfast was O.K. but definitely something I wouldn't pay for in a restaurant.When it came to the pool it was mixed experience as well. While the pool water seemed clean, around the pool was not. We found bandaids and clumps of hair on ground around the pool and leading up to the slide. Our kids were really looking forward to a swim before we checked out the following day but it was closed for cleaning, which is understandable, but there was no warning or flyers mentioning the pool closure the night before, only during the cleaning was there a note at the front desk, the kids were upset to say the least, maybe posting signs at the pool the night before could help people plan there trips easier.The location was good, close to the airport, but also close to the Science center, movie theater and Zoo which is why we picked this hotel in the first place.I was asked to elaborate on my review so management knows where to improve, so hopefully this helps them and also warns anyone looking for a hotel for the night.

The front desk personnel greeted us warmly & set us up with the most amazing suite with separate kitchenette, seating area, & bedroom. The kindness & consideration in room selection gave us a quiet, clean, & cozy environment to relax from a long day of driving. Renovations were in progress & the pool was closed for maintenance during our stay but it didn’t detract from our stay being one of the most comfortable we have experienced in years. Only drawback was the one elevator, it was efficient & quiet, but a second elevator would be a plus.

We are currently staying here at this hotel and have been for the past 6 nights (a total of 9 for our trip). The pool has been freezing for 4 of the 6 nights so far. The hot tub has had mediocre temperature, slightly warm bath water. We discussed this with the front staff (very nice staff member) and was told to speak with the hotel manager about it the next morning. I had requested to speak with them the following morning and was told they were in a meeting but would leave a note to call me once they are available. I never received the call from them.When we first arrived, we were informed that the elevator was not working and that there were renovations being done to the front lobby area. I was initially not bothered by this as we were told that the elevator would be repaired the next day. However, it was not fixed for 3 days into our stay. The renovations do not cause much disturbance. There is more concern regarding the scrap materials being left out in common areas with no concern to barricade work areas from the public.The only positive thing I can comment on is that the staff at the front desk have been friendly, though not able to help solve any issues, only apologize.
