As the name says this is the research and development kitchen for white spot. They have some classics on the menu but also some new and unique items. The truffle mushroom burger was fantastic. I hope they bring this to more restaurants. The service was great and staff were friendly.

The food is really stand-out, and our server was delightful. Best sweet potato fries I think I've ever had, a bit flat to allow a crunchier surface area without being gummy like sweet potato fries can be. The baguette for the po-boy sandwich had a thin crunch on the outside and a nice sourdough texture inside. Just the right amount of resistance when taking a bite. Several vegan dishes, too. Will definitely return and try different plates. There were so many great choices it was hard to decide what to order.

We grabbed a bite here on a Sunday evening before heading to the Rec Room. It’s a lot trendier than your typical Whitespot. The front of house staff is very unorganized. The hostess wrote down my name and told me it’ll be a 5 min wait then disappeared for a long time. The servers are friendly but not attentive. After waiting awhile I had to wave the server down to order and again to pay. Food also took long to come out. That brings the overall experience from a 4 to a 3.We chose dishes that were only available at this location:Louisiana fried chicken burger: I recommend ordering this and upsizing the fries to a poutine. The chicken was lightly battered with a nice kick to it and had a crunch to it when I took a bite.Crispy Cajun fish po’boy: I normally love fish burgers/sandwiches so I chose this. The fish was left in the fryer for too long and tasted dry. I smothered it with a side of triple O sauce to make it taste better.Roasted garlic & habanero chicken drums: the meat was so tender and juicy. I also liked how saucy it was, and it comes with a ranch dip. We ordered this off their happy hour menu. Happy hour is every day from 2-5pm & 8pm-late (dine in only).

We had high hopes for R & D white spot. Surprisingly not busy at all on a saturday. Very nice eatery tucked in the back of the west wing of the Tables food court. Service was friendly but wait times for food & desserts were unacceptable. Fruit served with entrees and lemon slice accompanying the tea should not have been served (the lemon slice was borderline rotten and the grapefruit & orange slices were rubbery/dry and obviously leftover from the previous day). Many complaints regarding the Louisiana chicken burger - chicken was dry from overfrying, over breaded, meat to bun ratio was 50%. Pan roasted potatoes were tasty. Strawberry mousse dessert was ok but it was not a mousse as it had a yogurt texture. Overall we wouldn't go out of our way to return but with their ever changing menu we may check it out again.

Located in a separate space in the Brentwood mall food court. Highly recommended. Great service and great food.We came for brunch and to chat and catch up. The service was perfect, just enough to check in on us and give us plenty of uninterrupted time to connect. The food? It's good! We ordered Benny's and a chicken waffle. I will definitely be back!

I know you’re supposed to order a burger but i ordered fish and chips instead. As you can tell from the picture , it was super brown and a little over cooked unfortunately. We also had the waygu burger but to me it’s just like a normal burger. The margarita was overly sweet. Server was super nice tho!!

This seems to be my kids' go to place for contemporary Canadian food - better than usual Whitespots. We frequent Cactus Club and Earl's so Whitespot R&D is a great alternative. The GOOD: they have the usual Pirate Pack faves (chicken tenders & fries, drink w ice cream afterwards), as well a new options to test drive. I've had variations of spicy chicken burgers and even a Wagyu beef burger here. My eldest girl likes the Margherita pizza. The BEST: manager came by previous outing and asked what they could do better. My daughter replied that the Margherita pizza needed MORE CHEESE. A few wks later, we went back and there was more cheese on the pizza!! Gotta give them 2 thumbs up when they listen to their customers!!The BAD: Poboi or?? fish burger was not good. Deep fried and crunchy but sadly more batter than fish, it seemed. Plus little sauce or flavour so very bland. Will not try that again. Stick to chicken and beef burgers going forward.

It was our first time here for lunch at the ‘test kitchen’ & what a tasty experience! In addition to their regular White Spot favourites, they offer a good selection of ‘test kitchen’ items. We ordered the steelhead burger wrapped in lettuce instead of the bun. Nice portion of fish & cooked to perfection! I tried their newer salad – celery and carrot ribbons with greens, cashews, edamame with sherry vinaigrette. The other order was the classic mushroom burger which was also delish. (Both dishes rate 5/5).Our server Meghan was excellent (5/5). Often checking on us and even gave us a sample of the Gochujang sauce to try. Ambiance rates 5/5 – nice décor. Prices were on par with other places. They’re located on one side of the food court located in Brentwood Mall. We were told that every few months, the kitchen will add some new items. Looking forward to visiting here again to get my White Spot fix.

Went to have a quick meeting with a friend. This is an amazing restaurant in many ways. The most fascinating thing is it's kind of a secret restaurant. What this restaurant does is develop new products for another restaurant chain. So there is a real emphasis on quality when it comes to the food.We were lucky enough to chat with the manager who was very open and interested in our ideas. He actually recommended spaghetti with mushrooms and added shrimp because he thought that would make it even better. He was definitely right.Amazing lunch and I would definitely order it again. The other thing to look for is the Wagyu Beef hamburger which is definitely on my must-eat list.

Very clean nice place. Love the seating! We loved the staff Kevin and Sharlot where so nice and laughed with us a bit!Food was ok, needed salt (I'm from the US so you know). We tried the Benedict, clam soup, and fettuccine (the chicken was seasoned well).Probably won't come back but enjoyed.
