Dumont Tirecraft

Had a flat playing FSRs near Sooke and it ended up being a bit more complicated than first seemed but took it to Dumont with zero appointment and got me on my way and back first thing following day when a part needed was delivered. Was visiting the region but cannot recommend how welcoming and efficient/friendly the crew was.

I first went here in September of 2021.Service flip flopped between super friendly first time to unhelpful the rest. I initially had them inspect a transmission leak from the pan and they called it a bad seal, ultimately the dipstick wasn’t in all the way (above the pan, not the engine bay) as found by another shop - so that was the cost of two seals and twice the labour.They aren’t a transmission shop so I didn’t hold it against them.Later I had wheel bearings done, a year and 3 months passed and the bearings went. I called and asked about a warranty repair and they informed me it was past warranty (warranty is a year) but they’d call their supplier and inquire..not sure how long it takes to call and ask but ultimately they forgot to give me a ring back and at least let me know I was SOL. Other shops seem a lot more sincere about issues like this and will take the time to answer my questions and inquire about my situation. Dumont does not.I get that it isn’t warrantied but what kind of bearing fails so soon? Probably some kind or factory defect. Not even 25k kilometers. Most have life spans of 100+km.No discussion of a reduce rate even, or even acknowledgement of that.. pretty lame to not stand behind your product.My girlfriend also had a tire patched here while I was away for work and the the techs patched it, only for the tires to have a blowout on the highway a week later. The tire must have been too far gone to be saved and negligently given the okay, or it wasn’t patched properly, continued to leak, than blown. Either way, disappointing. Tires don’t catastrophically fail like that without good reason.The owners may disagree with my assessment but my transaction history speaks for itself. I wanted to find a shop that was local and gave them a fair chance.Edit: Took the time to do this bearing replacement myself and ultimately the reason for its failure was a dented dust cover allowing water/moisture in. The bearing was completely rusted. A shame because something like this you'd think would be noticed by a TIRE SHOP.. holy f*** what kind of show are you running over there?!

When the bearings failed on my boat trailer in Sooke the folks at Dumont Tire were very responsive and even came out to the roadside to assist. Highly recommend this shop and it's wonderful people.

Jason and his crew are amazing! Brand new tires installed in an hour with NO appointment. We did order the tires ahead of time and given a quote and no hidden fees when we actually had the tires installed.

Great customer service and very helpful.We had a flat yesterday afternoon, they were able to fit us in with no notice to patch the tire. Everyone was really friendly and the service time was awesome.Definitely recommend them.
