Salvation Army has been a 5 star place for the needy since forever. And hopefully they will be around for another forever. The thing is they have to move from nicol st to another part of town or off the beaten track. Downtown Nanaimo will never get ON the tourist map until this happens.

Well they helped me do my taxes ... I go there every year to get them done.. Tuesday and Thursdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm just go upstairs at the social concerns office....first come first serve policy.

Cant give less than 1 star or I would give minus 50. Used to be - and I emphasize the word Used" someone who donated substantially to the SA every year monitarily. That ended today. I called two weeks ago asking if they would like the donation of a dining room hutch and a teak desk. Oh

Liars, abusive, fraud, they are not there to help you, they are there to defraud social assistance by bringing in as much cash as they can, go ahead stay there for a week if you can survive it. Threats, threats, threats. They advertised 24/7 warming center, DID NOTHING...Giving hope, I hope I don't go to jail, I don't deserve it.

This establishment and it's inmates have been a blight on the downtown of Nanaimo for decades now. It's time they sold that valuable chunk of real estate, moved to a better location and built a modern facility away from the central core. They might too consider helping all the needy that come their way, and stop discriminating against those of the LGBT community. That might actually be Christlike behaviour.
