I have dealt with Stu's Stove Shoppe for about 25 years, bought two fireplaces from them, and also the chimney for a future wood stove in our basement. Stu is a knowledgeable, helpfull person who enjoys giving good service and advice. This great family business will continue to have my patronage and I have no hesitation recommending them.I only gave two stars to get your attention.The safety valve in our Valor fireplace failed, I have no way of knowing when, it might have been years ago. The failure showed up when we ran out of propane while on vacation and our house sitter smelled the gas. Any safety device should, if it fails, put the equipment it protects in a safe state, so this valve should have failed CLOSED not OPEN – very unsafe.The repair was to replace THE WHOLE GAS CONTROL UNIT!!! This includes the thermostat, the manual control, the ignition module, everything. Total cost, with tax, nearly $640. Valor assures me (by email conversation) that this is the reasonable cost for the repair (about a 2 hour job, 10km from the shop) because ot the high quality of their parts.I am avoiding Valor products (one of the brands Stu sells) and recommend everyone follow my example.

Nobody ever answers the phone, or returns calls.

Purchased a stove from them and have no issues with the stove or Installation . However have been trying to get the chimney cleaned and the customer service is shocking. Called last year in February to get it cleaned but said they were to busy doing installs and we’re all booked up so was asked to call back next year in August or September.They wouldn’t even take a reservation at that time.So just called now and they said it was to late as they only do installs in May or June.Never use them again
