Birken Lakeside Resort

We had a wonderful stay. Stayed in Wild West cabin.Sharon is very kind and a super host.She made us feel home and was always there for us if we needed anything.About cabin and bathrooms - cozy , unique, well maintained , clean and spacious. We loved the fireplace in our cabin.It was super relaxing with a private beach area which was really enjoyable to sit by the lake and gaze at stars.We also enjoyed kayaking , barbecuing picking apples and bonfire at the property.Would highly recommend. I did an exchange similar to woofing with the resort, which included a place to stay, some food and a stipend per hour.I was there for several months helping for wedding season and the time after that. On the last month of my stay, me and a friend, who recently joined, helped fill up the resort while the owner was very sick. We also went to her home and helped with a deep house cleaning.I left back to my home country shortly after the cleanup, counting on the remaining payment to arrive in a few days, only to hear from my friend that there were some things missing from the resort when she got back, that a guest had entered the owner’s private area (which she always left unlocked) and that the owner was accusing us for it.To this day she hasn’t paid me the owed 800CAD or answered any calls or messages to speak about what happened.I am grateful for the initial months of my experience but the poor communication, problem resolution and avoidance has left a very bad impression.I don’t recommend supporting this business or doing any type of exchange or woofing program here.

been coming here for 10+ years, hands down my favourite place to go and usually my family’s highlight of the summer :) lots of places to explore in an around here, and running water and electricity are definitely a bonus when camping. this spot is perfect for seasoned and new campers, however the hiking trails can be a little advanced! the lake is gorgeous too and great for when it’s scorching hot! (also: bring friends or family that is into rock hounding here!)

The coziest cabins! Literally had the whole place to our family, can't stop telling friends about this magical place! I had the best much needed R&R! Absolutely love this place and hi have to go back one day! Sharon was very accommodating and warm and friendly. Can't wait to come back!

Sharon is an amazing host! She's super friendly and helpful. Campsite is nice and clean. Private access to an on water dock. There's also a communal firepit for everyone to mingle a little and it gets super social there.We stayed on the campsites but the cabins look super nice and cozy. They're also themed! Will be looking to book one of the cabins sometime in the near future. If you have a family with young children, it's definitely the perfect place to be at! Even if you don't have children, guaranteed a nice time there.Sharon, I hope you'll continue to enjoy campfire roasted Vietnamese hotpot pork balls!

Absolutely fantastic cabins to relax and unwind! Surrounded by gorgeous trees, short walk to private Birken Lake and and an amazing host. Wr stayed in the Library cabin which comes with a kitchenette, large deck and fire pit. Very clean and well maintained outhouses. Highly recommended!

If you love exclusivity, fantastic. Beautiful swim up dock. Owner Sharon is wonderful and building a truly beautiful place. Be sure of what amenities are being charged up front, bring your own firewood.

100 years old cozy cottage to rest and recharge away from the city. It's cozy, romantic and magical surrounded by lake and mountains.Sharon is an amazing person and made sure that we had everything we needed. She even baked us an apple crisp with homemade caramel sauce and it was delicious. We really enjoyed staying here and would love to come back. Thanks for sharing the recipe with me.

I had a wonderful stay. The cabins are adorable and the Sharon is wonderful host. Cabins are well kept as are the bathroom facilities. It was super relaxing with a private beach area which was really enjoyable to sit by the lake. Exactly what I was looking for. Plus the area has a lot of place to explore and definitely planning on coming back. Really glad I was able to get a spot for the long weekend!

The atmosphere created at this resort is magical. The amount of little details throughout the resort aimed at making your stay memorable is genuinely astonishing. The host is absolutely amazing! I think she contributes a lot to the overall experience you have here. The cabins are great, and I'm pretty sure most people can find something suitable. We stayed in the Bunk House, which has an open concept and a full kitchen. While a common area washroom/shower facility isn't too big, but having hot running water while camping is quite something. Plus, they keep it very clean and provide all sorts of extra stuff like shampoos, conditioners, hairdryers, etc. Tons of other facilities, gas campfires, and even a cafe. The beach area isn't too big and basically is a wooden dock, but it is very well organized, providing things like chairs, sunshades, floaties, kayaks, and other things. Not to mention that Birken Lake itself is stunning. Also, we were recommended by the host to visit a waterfall located a few kilometers from the resort, and this was a fantastic experience. A very easy hike, but the waterfall is absolutely stunning! I can't recommend this hike enough. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I hope to revisit this place in the future.
