Plantain Cartel

Wow! I think this is my new favourite place. I order off of skip and I was a bit hesitant. I thought either it’s going to be super disappointing or amazing. The sandwiches didn’t disappoint! Ordered the beef sandwiches and got a free chicken sandwich through skip the dishes. The plantain was nice and crispy not too sweet and the fillings were full of great flavour and tender meat. Highly recommend.

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of my meal. I had the plantain bandera and it was so tasty! My partner ordered the beef plantain sandwich. We are so fortunate to have this place just a few minutes away from home. We love this restaurant and will continue to visit.

My partner and I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while and were very excited we finally came around to doing so. We found it very strategic how they combined both the soca kitchen and plantain cartel into one restaurant. They designed it in a way where both side could have their own vibe and privacy. The design on the plantain side is very nice for a casual restaurant, my favourite part was the Spanish tiles and chairs -they are beautiful. The service was good. We ordered the vegetarian sandwich, beef sandwich and the dulce de lèche mouse. Both the sandwiches were amazing, especially the beef! They were both a good size, had also had a lot filling in them and GLUTEN FREE! The dulce de lèche mouse was fantastic. We got the crumbles on the side ( they are not gluten free). Even though I couldn’t eat all parts of the dessert, I really enjoyed the mouse and will go back for it again! Overall it was a good experience the only criticism I have is the prices were a tad high for what it was (a casual restaurant) and I would love to see more gluten free dessert options on the menu!

Pleasantly surprised. Ordered from here on Uber. The plantain chicken sandwich was super delicious. Huge portion. Delicious salsas. Chicken empanadas were a little dry and I wished they had cheese but they came with a really good sauce. Tres leches coconut cake was amazing. Super moist and big portion. Will definitely eat here again.

Ordered the churros and the chicken sandwich. Both got delivered still hot and the churros we're absolutely delicious!! I loved the chicken sandwich offset by the pickles vegetables inside it and crispy plantain in the outside. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend for a weekend lunch! My friend and I really like everything about this place. The atmosphere was on point and had an elegant vibe. The food was absolutely delicious- with lots of Latin American spices, flavours and flare. I had the pulled pork and wow was that a sandwich. I also liked that it was keto friendly. The staff were knowledgable and also made some great recommendations for pairs the sandwich with a drink. The dessert was a condensed milk base with various nuts and orange guava sauce on top- simply but delicious!

Service was exceptionally good. A bit expensive but very tasteful and made with high quality ingredients.

Ordered the beef sandwich, the churros and the très leches cake. The sandwich was amazing and though I was worried about the plantain, they were crispy and not oily. The filling was super flavorful. Definitely something to go back to. The desserts on the other hand were so so.

I was looking foward to check Plantain Cartel, as my experience at Soca Kitchen was amazing, so my expectations were high . I’m gonna say they the only reason I don’t give it one star is because the food was DELICIOUS. The plantain , the filling everything was very good, it was hard to eat, but you make it work, my favourite thing was the churros. However price was extremely overpriced, the bill came the same as we had eaten at Soca, without having the service at the table . Staff weren’t the nicest either , I was very surprised as the time we went to Soca they were so kind and helpful, this time was the complete opposite. Yes food was delicious but not worth it to go back again, I recommend just trying Soca instead of plantain cartel .

Delicious chicken plantain sandwich and super friendly bright server. It was really quiet on a Tuesday evening but service was quick and everything tasted very fresh. The churros were piping hot and the perfect texture. Would definitely return and recommend.
