As a senior adult, I have been taking intermediate level piano lessons with Kathleen for over two years now. Kathleen is a professional piano teacher of high standard. She is very thorough, paying great attention to detail, especially with respect to articulation, phrasing and dynamics but also the myriad other aspects such as technique, pedalling, quality of tone and overall mood of a piece. She leaves no stone unturned, which I particularly appreciate as we approach the higher levels. Although she personally seems to favour music from the Romantic Era, she exhibits a high level of understanding of the styles of Baroque, Classical and Modern music and is also well versed in church music and appreciates good quality popular music.I found that Kathleen adapted well to the challenges and needs of an adult which are different from those of a child.Kathleen is one of very few piano teachers in Canada who have not just one but two ARCT's: one in Piano Performance and one in Pedagogy. She is industrious and very well organized in scheduling, sending out emails and printing out material for her students. The transition to lessons on Zoom , despite being labour intensive for her and her husband went virtually flawlessly for the students.Giving courses in Harmony is another forte of Kathleen, and music composition is one of her talents as well.Her regular attendance at meetings with other teachers in the Chilliwack area attests to her spirit of professional collegiality.She has a pleasant and encouraging style of teaching while maintaining a high standard of expectation. She is also open to new ideas.Kathleen not only knows and loves the material she teaches but also loves her pupils, the hallmarks of an excellent teacher.I am certain that there will always be more people wanting to take lessons with Kathleen than she can accommodate.

Kathleen is such an inspiring and amazing piano teacher!
