Ruby is so knowledge of the artisans and history of each rug. She did a great job helping us pick out rugs to fit our space and allowed us to see them in the context of our rooms before purchasing them. The atmosphere of the shop is so warm and welcoming and there is an amazing selection, something for everyone!

After spending weeks of looking around, I am glad I ran into this place. Ruby is amazing, she intuitively and patiently helped me find the perfect rug that connects me to my own berber heritage. I instantly fell in love with it the second I saw it. After looking at a bunch of rugs, she suggested we take a few to try out at home. We only planned on getting one, but we loved them so much, we got both. We'll definitely be back in the future!

I recently happened across this shop and was immediately drawn to the colours and vibrancy. I made an appointment with Ruby to come in and see some rugs and was not disappointed. Ruby was very engaging and knowledgeable on every aspect of her rugs. You can definitely tell she has a passion for what she is doing, Ruby was quick to point out the cultural context and symbolism of the pieces I had interest in. We recently bought a rug from Qalat for our living area and we love it! Ruby was so helpful when we went to the store, she asked questions about our space and taste, and helped us make a first selection. She suggested we take home the 4-5 rugs we had selected to see them in context - it was so great being able to try the different rugs and compare, I think it really helped us make the best decision and in fact we ended up buying a rug that in the store had not been our first choice.Ruby was friendly and responsive, and overall we had a great experience.

My husband and I learned about Qalat through our friend as we were struggling to find the right Moroccan rug for our bedroom. The ones we liked were listed on online stores. We wanted to see the rug and interact with the seller in person to learn about where it’s made and how it’s made. Seemed like a challenge in the midst of a pandemic.We’re so happy we looked into our friend’s recommendation, walked in Qalat, and met the store owner, Ruby. Ruby was a genuine delight to meet. She was warm, very knowledgeable about her products, and patient with our questions. She showed us a number of her rugs. After thinking it through, we went back and purchased 1 beautiful rug for our guest bedroom. We then went back in hopes to get one custom made for our bedroom.She and her team (in Morocco) made our vision a reality! From the day we discussed the design details of our Beni Ourain rug to the updates and photos of the women working on the rug as well as providing us context on how it’s made and the high quality of wool that is being used, esp. how much the people value and care for their sheep in the process were truly the experience we were seeking.We’re so happy with how our first Beni Ourain rug turned out and even more happy that we supported her business and the women who worked long hours on it by hand.
