OMERS

I’ve been in the process of transferring my pension from HOOPP to OMERS. I’m so grateful I can speak and read English & I’m good with computers because this has been the most difficult and tedious process. I’ve had a rude phone attendant and so many documents sent digitally that are difficult to understand and fill out properly. I’ve gone back and forth for months when it should’ve taken 1 day of filling out forms and processing. I’ve also been sent forms that are locked so you can’t fill them out digitally but then you’re told to upload them digitally. It makes absolutely no sense and I feel terrible for the people who are not comfortable using online forms because it’s going to be a huge struggle for them. Omers needs to simplify their process and improve their customer service and communication.

I have dealt with OMERS over the last few days and man what an amazing company. Each and every person I talked to on the phone was overly helpful and patient. I cannot believe the cheerful nature of every person and felt very taken care of. MyOMERS the online portal works perfectly and changes can be made without any usual nonsense. Congratulations OMERS and your management for obviously being a great employer but also for taking care of your clients. Thank you thank you thank you...Would give 10 Stars if it possible.

Horrible customer service. This company makes it difficult for their members to get any kind of support with administrative matters. I've dealt with other pension companies and OMERS is very disappointing by making their members jump through hoops to have access to something that's rightfully theirs.

Terrible Company. Lacks in diversity and inclusion among workforce. Very slow to divest from oil&gas stocks to improve ESG mandates.

OMERS staff are great on the phone but terrible in getting things accomplished. I have waited over 9 months to get my pension and all they say is they have reached out to the employer, with no repercussions on the employer’s negligence. In other words, the employer can withhold your pension for as long as they wish, while OMERS stands by, permits such abuse, but will say they are sorry. Absolutely no backbone, but sorry"

OMERS makes it very difficult and at the moment impossible to claim monies owed when a loved one passes away. My kindhearted and bereaved Mother has cared selflessly for my Stepfather for 27 years (God bless his soul). After a lengthy and difficult death OMERS is giving her the roundabout and making it impossible for her to claim his pension. They were in a romantic relationship and lived together for 27 years and no matter how much paper work she submits as proof it is never enough. I can't even count the amount of times and papers she has sent to them to show proof. She has been through enough and is tired and depressed. I'm disgusted with OMERS and blame them for the toll this is taking on her. She has very little income due to having to retire early to care for my Stepfather and he always believed his pension would be there to help her when he was gone. Shame on you OMERS

My experience with OMERS staff has been fantastic on every occasion. I have had need to call for info at least once a year and sometimes more often. I appreciate their security questions that protect myself and other members. I invested in AVC and was naturally disappointed in the losses of 2020; however, I maintained my investment because I believe in OMERS ability to recover and lead me to greater returns in future.

Omers, Oxford, EllisDon, or whatever new name they have decided to cook up, is a completely and utterly disorganized mess. First they mess up 'Voluntary Disclosures' on their applications by demanding your personal information (not all that voluntary, hm?).
