Summit Heights Retirement Residence

Two years ago my husband passed and I was at a crossroad in my life. My family and I toured Summit Heights and the team took us under their wing and guided us from the deposit to the final move in stage. From the day I moved in one person that has been there for me at anytime is Debbie L. I feel safe and am cared for with the most respect. My daughter is grateful that I am in such a home like environment that she too is at ease as she does not have to worry about my well being. I am happy to be active with the activities that stimulate me, physically and mentally. This is home to me!

This place is beautiful but the vibe is off. Marketing Director is not friendly, and the Executive Director door is always closed and she often refuses to meet with anyone. Management and staff morale is visibly low. I hope things can get better for the residents at Summit Heights.

I am not one to comment on these sites but upon seeing the recent post I just felt compelled to provide my perspective. It saddens me that someone would give 1 star based on a walk by of the director. My mother is one of the first residents to move into Summit Heights. Since the first meeting with Lesley the executive director when we reserved her suite to today, I am overwhelmed with the dedication of the director and the staff. Whenever a new facility opens there is bound to be a period of adjustment and change; not to mention the delays due to COVID in the opening itself. The amount of balls this person must juggle is mind boggling and one never knows what could be happening at any given moment in time.The list is endless as to why this facility is the best place for seniors which is evidenced by the number of residents that have moved here from other seniors homes. I live four hours away and knowing that my mother is in the care of Lesley, Cinda, Debbie and Kelly give me the peace in my heart that she will be safe, cared for, respected and her life will be enriched with social and engaging activities, and open and respectful home and healthy lifestyle. My 84 year old mother, recently widowed, has gone from living alone and watching TV and hardly eating, to a life that is THRIVING. She doesn't tell people this is where she lives; but that this is her home. Don't think twice; this is THE BEST place for seniors.

Summit Heights is such a warm and welcoming place to work at. All the staff and residents are so kind and we truly work together to ensure the residents have the best quality of life. If you are looking for a great place for your loved one or an awesome place if your looking for a job!

(Update: We had a meeting with the care co-ordinator and Director to address the issues below. It was very helpful for the last several weeks of care as we have decided to take him home.)My father is in the memory care floor and when left in the care of the home, he can go unchanged for over 3 hours (we have footage), bed sheets soiled and left to air dry (not laundered), he is yelled at by some of the staff and we've found bruising and scratches. We've bought loads of expensive Depends and they disappear at an alarming rate, more than what he uses in a day. When we visit, which is most of the time, WE have to shower him, change him, change his bed sheets and feed him because meals are missed. We visit 4-5 times a week! So what does $6500/month pay for? We have been trying to schedule a meeting with the Care Co-ordinator for 3 weeks to talk about the issues. We are met with cancellation after cancellation.There is only one care worker who is exceptional, Karen. Thank you so much for giving my dad some dignity. I am truly grateful for your service.If you are considering this place for dementia, this is the wrong place. Do yourself a favor and hire a personal support worker dedicated to your loved one before even considering this route.

This place almost killed my grandmother! She has celiac disease and requires a gluten free diet. This place insisted they were giving her gluten free options, which landed her in the hospital for a month! Do NOT send a loved one to this place if they require any dietary restrictions. Their kitchen will lie about what they are serving with no regard of the consequences. My grandmother has moved out of there and is finally on the mend.

We moved mom and dad here and love the staff and the property. Everyone has been so helpful and we have not had any negative experiences. The property is beautiful and there are lots of activities every day. The food in the dinning room is excellent with a menu that changes weekly with many options available.

Today was our first day moving in to Summit Heights.The whole staff welcoming and kind. The moving service they recommend (source one)Moved and set the suite up completely live in ready.There was a glitch with the phone set up.I asked the the front desk if there was anyone who might help me outI took the elevator to the 4th floor and Collins was waiting for me.He completely set up the system perfectly.He is a kind and knowledgeable Man.Cheers to Summit Heights and the entire family.We are looking forward to becoming part of that Family

Our mom was one of the first residents to move into Summit Heights last August 2021. The dedication and care of the staff has been amazing, especially through the whole c-vid situation. We can’t begin to thank everyone for the peace of mind we have knowing our mom is safe and cared for. Thank you ❤️
