Metropolitan Movers Kitchener

We had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience with Metropolitan Movers. There was unnecessary damage to the house that we moved out of (more than what we would consider reasonable for a move eg. deep gouges in drywall) that we spoke to the movers about. They acknowledged that they did the damage and said they would call us the next day and make arrangements for the repairs. There was also some damage to our belongings (even items that they wrapped for us) that we noticed while unpacking. We didn’t hear from them about the repairs for the damage to the walls so filed a damage claim via email. The response said it was “nearly impossible and implausible” that they movers did the damage and that they had “never had such a crazy set of photos or claim”, which we found surprising for an initial response. I asked for a follow up phone call to discuss, and did not get a response. I tried calling to connect with this rep for a week before getting an email response from them. The response indicated that the movers now denied that they did any damage, but I was asked how much I wanted to receive for reimbursement. Based on the damages and the time I spent trying to track this person down I suggested a 50% reimbursement, which was called “absurd” by the rep and we were then offered a 5% reimbursement. We thought this was disingenuous as they asked how much we wanted but clearly had a limit as to how much they would be willing to provide. We were very disappointed with our experience with Metropolitan Movers but said we would accept the refund. We haven’t heard back from them about how we will receive the refund (it has been over two weeks).

They sent me the company grand river moving. First they were so slow, they wasted an hour loading. At the destination they offloaded in time so in total they spent 4 hours and 10 minutes. Then he messed up the bill-- saying 4 hours for moving and 1 hour for travel whereas 4 hours was the total time spent including travel, on my argument he removed an hour saying he is giving me a favour, i was like surprised at his attitude.Finally the rate, he didnt mentioned the correct rate, again arguments, he called back his boss and came to know the correct rate, now he added all this time we were arguing to the bill by saying there is still one thing in the truck..Never gonna use their service again..

ReviewMy recent experience with this company has been abysmal and if I would give a rating of zeroI had provided all the details to the Metropolitan representative regarding how many bedrooms I have and the items I’ll be taking. I had explicitly stated that I had 3 bedrooms in the house and the representative stated that we will only be requiring 2 movers. I asked twice if that would suffice and they said yes. They also said that the truck they’ll send will fit our items (which I also provided details for)Come moving day, I found out that the company had subcontracted us to another company. They were highly unprofessional and the source of all the chaos. Let me list a few things that went wrong:1. They brought an U-Haul truck that was too small to fit the items. After inquiring about the size of the truck, the man claimed they cannot get a bigger truck and to accommodate our items, they will have to do multiple rides. This means I have to pay more money for a situation that I wouldn’t have to if they brought the right size truck. The Metropolitan representative also stated “They will be leaving now if you are not willing to agree”. This was told to us within minutes of being faced with the situation.2. We were provided 2 movers that were incompetent. They did not use the dolly to get the work done faster. One of the movers took smoke breaks every 20-30 minutes making it a slow day of moving. We had to employ the help of another mover company along with them to get the work done.3. They stacked items improperly, resulting in furniture and appliance damage. They also chipped the wall in the house.4. I had previously told the representative that we will need to move a 3 piece sofa set and that they will need to move it to an area upstairs. They said this would be arranged on the day of the moving. However, the movers refused to do that because they were not provided these details.5. The movers misplaced the keys during the move. I had to send my friend along with one of the movers to grab a replacement key from the U-Haul centre. Yet, they made us pay for this period of time where they were not working.My husband and I have moved houses multiple times and have never had to encounter a situation like this. The moving company provided improper information to the subcontractors resulting in miscommunication. The extortion of desperate individuals, lack of empathy and complete unprofessionalism makes this experience so jarring. I hope this company takes measures to ensure that another individual will not be placed in the same situation my family was. I will never be approaching them again.

Showed up at my house 5 hours late. They sent a company called Grand River Moving and their organization was a mess. I called multiple times while my wife waited for them to show up and they kept saying they would be there in a hour and I went through this 4 times until they finally showed up.Then the movers said they needed a third person because they couldn't get it done in time. I said I wasn't paying for one because it's their fault the move started so late. They brought in a guy who I'm pretty sure didn't even work for the company and at the end they asked me to etransfer him $80 on top of what my total cost was. Such a joke.They also broke a dresser that can't be fixed. I'm also missing half my L shaped desk and a box that had my google home system in it.This company was a nightmare to deal with and I wouldn't suggest them to anyone. When you call they just give you the run around and never come to an acceptable solution. Right now I have to file a claim for my stuff and I guarentee nothing will be done about it.The move also took way longer than it should have which cost me more money. I had everything I owned in my garage except for a couch, electric fireplace, tv, and one dresser. I basically did half the move for them and they still took close to 6 hours tom get it done.

Showed up an hour late and tried to charge us for it (an extra ~$200). Argued with me, would only reason with my husband. He called his manager, corrected the invoice and said we were getting a deal"."

These guys were great. This is a very valuable service with such trusted movers. Dealing with the office staff was also done very professionally. I should also add that the crew showed up exactly on time the day of the pack out. They worked very quickly and efficiently and came up with some very smart solutions for packing odd shaped pieces of furniture. They honestly made it seem easy. After details were worked on pricing the move was underway. My things were packed with so much care and they arrived in perfect condition. I was very impressed by their work and would highly recommend them.

I can not say enough good about Metropolitan Movers - specifically Brian and his crew. Booked them to move my law office over a long weekend and they were fabulous. Professional, punctual and ready for anything. They disassembled the whole office, moved it a few kilometres and put it back together exactly as we asked. No damage to anything, and Brian absolutely nailed the estimated labour cost. They offered to come back in the next day for any last minute adjustments and spent three more hours making everything perfect. Reconfigured desks, drilled holes for cables, assembled all the new furniture and were happy to do it. These guys know their stuff, and they are FAST. It wasn't free, of course, but amazing value. I wouldn't even bother calling anyone else when I need movers again.

We paid for 2 movers, but only 1 was experienced and did most of the work, which both slowed down the process and made the experienced mover rush to move things that should’ve been handled with more care. They ignored our labels on boxes that were fragile because they just wanted to get the work done. The experienced mover was good, and I don’t blame him, but he was not given the proper support needed for our move.Since things were mishandled, a $600 table base was destroyed. I reached out to a manager to see how this will be handled and they told me that the mover will be fixing the base, even though it was destroyed and in my opinion cannot be fixed. Also, communication has been slow with the manager.We have used other moving services throughout the years and this was the worst experience of all of them.

Showed up more than one hour late. These movers damaged our sofa moving it (it got covered in grease because it was not properly protected, and the movers were careless). The owner of the company made a deal with me that he would arrange to have someone come clean the couch at his cost. He even told me he would take $100 off the bill until I was satisfied with the cleaning. He has since been screening calls and has not returned any of my voicemails or emails. Disappointed is an understatement. I would not recommend this company if they were the last option to choose from. In addition to the above, several items were broken. One of the movers carried one lightweight item at a time from the second storey to the truck. It took us several hours longer than anticipated to pack and load the truck, leaving the buyer of our home to wait. Their service is shameful and the owner of the company is incredibly dishonest. Do not trust them with your move.

We hired Metropolitan Movers Kitchener for our residential move. They were a fantastic group of people. Brian and his team were extremely professional and courteous. They worked well together and were efficient. Highly recommended!
