I love coming to this place. The students are friendly and very supportive. The primary instructor, Sifu Sîlvain, and his assistants are fantastic. Their enthusiasm and teaching skills are outstanding. I recommend that people come here to learn self-defence, kickboxing, MMA, etc.

It took no time for me to realize that Patenaude Martial Arts Ottawa is a great place for training and personal development. There you can choose one or a group of high-quality classes for self-defense, kickboxing, fitness, grappling and MMA to focus on. I personally like the inclusion of the serious warmup and stretching with various types of exercises in every training session that significantly improve my entire body' strength and conditioning after class. For me, just this part alone is worth your time participating. This, along with the technicality part of the class that is practical, functional and clearly explained, would prepare you to be a well-rounded martial artist.Last but not least all of these happen because of the heart and soul of the club's owner, Sifu Silvain Patenaude. In addition, a very knowledgeable, uplifting, friendly and dedicated head instructor and a very good communicator, Sifu Silvain has created a comfortable environment for a diverse pool of students to come in the dojo enjoying and mingling like a family all the while sweating from a serious training in a complete martial-arts system. This place, in my opinion, is a true gem of a kind in the area.

I have trained with Sifu Silvain for over ten years -- originally as a class student (until I received my Brown Sash). I now train one-on-one with him weekly.He is an excellent instructor and coach. Always very positive. Always has a smile. Extremely knowledgeable and detail-oriented.If you want to learn martial arts and learn how to defend yourself, then you should try Sifu Silvain.

My 7yo daughter has been coming here for 2 years and always look forward to meet her friends and sifu. The kids group is a great size and they are fortunate to have the sifu, the owner himself, teach them. He is very passionate, dedicated, involved with the development of the children. The lessons contain sufficient challenges to maintain the students' motivation level. The environment fosters healthy competition, encourage engagement and provide team rewards (praise, winning small competition, new belt). I feel this has contributed to my daughter's higher confidence level. Will not hesitate to recommend this school to other parents who are looking for an after-school program for their kids.

Excellent academy. My children have been receiving classes with Sifu Sylvain for 3 years now. They continue to learn to be disciplined, building self-confidence in a healthy environment. I am very happy that we have Sifu, not only he is an excellent master, but also Sifu is always there for the kids to advice them and guide them.

Sifu Sylvain is an amazing instructor. He made me beleive in myself when i thought i looked terrible at a technique he knew what i was thinking without saying it out loud. My kids loved him in French they said il y en a dans le casque...highly recommend this school

Fang Shen Do (kung fu & MMA) is the best school or style of self-defense I’ve tried (I’ve tried about 5 others) because it’s so practical, and because of the teachers. Sîlvain Patenaude, leading the Ottawa school, is an extremely nice guy and one of the most patient guys I’ve ever met (I’m not exaggerating), as well as being an outstanding teacher. His personality sets the tone to the classes: it’s intense but super friendly, and although we challenge each other while training, we mostly help each other in getting better...So, I always get out of the class exhausted, but stronger, faster and happier. The techniques he teaches are pretty diverse and ‘complete’ (Wing Chun Kungfu, grappling, kickboxing, weapons, besides discipline for kids - I wish I had started as a kid!). A note for parents in particular: Sîlvain and his assistant teachers encourage us and kids to work harder, but they very much respect our individual pace and capacity. I highly recommend the school to anyone interested in self-defense or simply to get seriously in shape!

Patenaude Martial Arts is an absolutely amazing school and Sifu Sîlvain is an incredible instructor. Both our children love their Kung Fu classes with Sifu! Sifu Sîlvain's teaching style, patience and expertise have made learning Kung Fu and self defence the best experience ever for our kids. We could not recommend Sifu Sîlvain and Patenaude Martial Arts more! (If Google allowed more stars, we would absolutely give more!)

Patenaude Martial Art is a great atmosphere to train. The instructor and the people are great. Sifu Sîlvain always takes the time and care to teach proper techniques. He is very approachable, positive, uplifting, and encouraging.If you are looking to get in shape and stay active, this is a great place for it. I never push myself as hard in class as I would in the gym.Lastly this is a great environment for your mental health.

Patenaude Martial Arts has become a way of life for me and my kids. My son was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago and Kung Fu and MMA has helped him to focus and concentrate. It's a great workout while learning to defend yourself. We feel more confident about ourselves and in great shape. Sifu Sîlvain is very knowledgeable respectful and friendly. Awesome school, we love it!
