Fresh, tasty, authentic, and amazing. This place is our new go-to treat when we are craving authentic Japanese food.The items we ordered and I’ve detailed in my images were very good. We had a great time eating at this establishment and will definitely return again sooner than later.The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get and the quality of it too. There are many unreasonable complaints either comparing to those over-fancy NYC-wannabe places or the many overpriced and not so fresh AYCE (All You Can Eat) places throughout the city.We definitely ordered too much food, only because we wanted to try everything.Service was friendly and attentive, but not rushed; almost like being at a mom and pop shop in Japan.Atmosphere was nice and conversational, with no overly-loud pop music blaring in the background or bright lights everywhere. Their renovations are very timeless and classy. Their washrooms were brand new and very clean.Background: This place was recommended from another Japanese chef in Niagara Falls of our favourite Japanese restaurant in Ontario, who was a colleague of the owner. We waited a year to try them, as they were doing renovations and are glad we waited!

A Bold Artistic Choice!As a Vancouver resident we are known for our sushi. It’s quality, quantity and cheap cost. In Calgary you won’t find the Pacific sockeye salmon or the prices from a sizeable market but here at Sushi Hiro you will find quality that is artistic. There are two chefs. One kitchen prep chef and an ojisan masterfully working in front of guests.I ordered the chirashi. The sashimi was cut well and the rice had a bright flavour with vinegar and earthy tones. It was however brought in a bento box form. I would have preferred a bowl to make eating easier. Nevertheless the presentation was great.The quality was so good and flavours uniquely delicious that I thought to order more. I had my general follow up, nigari unagi and tomago. This is where the chef shinned. The unagi was incredibly well balanced. Nothing overpowered the experience it was a display of balance and control. The sauce exploded in flavour and mixed with the rice… but never overpowering the light flavour of the unagi. Tomago was distinct because of the unique ratio of rice to egg. It was also not too eggy.Gochisosamadeshita!

Been here twice and never disappointed. Love the atmosphere and the friendly staff. I was seated at the sushi bar and the chef was entertaining and gave fun tips on how to eat. ♡

The best sushi with a good price in Town. The restaurant is really clean and the staff are friendly. Recommend Deluxe sushi and sashimi, Zaru Soba (cold noodle) also good.

Nice and warm place to have a dinner with family. The staff are friendly and welcoming you at the restaurant. The sashimi is fresh. The hotpot is as good as before , the Aji sashimi always is in high quality and freshness. High recommended for all Japanese food lovers.

Way over priced.Miso soup is Ok.The negitoro roll is blend and wrapped with rice. Tempura’s got thick layers of batter and over fried.Very disappointed and buffed by so many almost full star reviews.P.S. plastic teapots… really?!

Sushi Hiro Japanese Restaurant
We had a pleasant experience at sushi hiro, the fish was high quality and service was good. However the prices were a bit high in my opinion and it took a while for the food to come out. Lastly, their menu could use an update as it was difficult to tell what their menu offered.
