Gem Windows & Doors

We replaced all of our windows and doors during a major house renovation over the last year. We bought all products through Gem, and specifically worked with Tas Merchant. We were extremely pleased with the outcome and the overall price was very competitive. There were no errors or issues with the exception of a couple of missing clip covers on our beautiful stacking doors. The quality of the windows and mechanisms are excellent. My builder installed them and commented very positively on the quality of both windows and doors. I would definitely recommend Gem and Tas to anyone in the market for their products.

Excellent customer service. Jim was very helpful. A delivery company had made some damages to our door and Jim provided everything we needed to fix, free of charge. It was a very pleasant experience. I would recommend Gem to my family and friends.

We had all of our doors and windows replaced with Gem a few years ago. Had we written a review, would have rated Gem highly. The sales process and installation went great. We spent quite a lot given the amount of door and windows involved. We were very happy afterwards. Now, however, have seen that it is a company that doesn’t do a high quality job and has terrible customer service. After a couple of years, cracks started appearing in most of the windows where silicone was applied. Turns out Gem didn’t use silicone but rather cheaper material so now there is air flow into the house from these cracks. They could’ve spent a little more using silicone rather than taking a shortcut and we would’ve avoided this issue. Even more frustrating, we wanted some repair work to the front door given damage. They came almost immediately to inspect. However, it’s now been over a year and nothing has been done! Can’t believe it would take over a year. Dealing with Jim (who apparently is responsible for customer service)is impossible as he doesn’t want to deal with anything. When you do get a hold of him, he tries to rush the conversation so not to answer questions. They’ve had a lot of turnover in the service team, which itself is indicative, so can’t talk to anyone else to follow the case through.Before hiring Gem, best to do research on people who will support you afterwards and do a good job - you’ll know it’s a good job not after they finish but rather when there aren’t any issues after time. Wouldn’t hire Gem again or recommend them myself.

We had Gem complete the installation of our back patio door, large picture window and Mastergrain front door. We have been trying to contact Gem Windows for 5 months, Jim and the service department specifically. Gem Windows has been unresponsive to all of my wife’s emails. The level of customer service is appalling once you purchase from Gem and I urge consumers to please do their research before considering purchasing windows and doors with this company!!

On Friday,May 6/22 after visiting all major box stores and smaller hardware outlets with no success in my quest in purchasing a complete lock set for my front door(lock now on door partially inoperable) my daughter suggested GEM windows and doors 1590 The Queensway. Immediately upon entering I was warmly welcomed by this man who asked me what can I do for you. I gave him the idea of the type of lock that I was looking for and he proceeded to show me several designs of locks that could suit my style of door.  He even asked me to bring my current lock in for him to see if it’s repairable at no charge to me.  I gave him the dimensions needed to purchase brand new and he asked me to wait for a moment as he went back to the order desk and came back with this ultra modern lock set.  I asked how much, he replied, you like it. I said yes. I said I would like my wife to have a look at it before purchasing.     Consider this a Mother’s Day gift for your wife and this is absolutely no charge. I was thinking what’s the angle here? Believe me, no angle as I asked him who manages this place and he says he is the manager.  This gentleman Jim Christopoulos is a first class act.Tony

Through our contractor, we had trusted that the appropriate door and window vendor would be selected and it was determined that Gem Windows would be supplying this for our project. While completely understandable that Covid would greatly impact our project, we were patient and waited several months for our doors and window to arrive. When it came time to addressing deficiencies however, I was incredibly disappointed with their quality and level of service. I have had at least 13 emails back and forth with their service team, and while pleasant via email communication, Jim lacks any responsiveness and does not follow-up whatsoever with you. I am constantly chasing them to the point where it just makes no sense to continue this any further. We would not use Gem Windows & Doors again and would caution others.

Contacted them via phone on June 7 2022. Submitted my measurements looking for quotes through email. I didn't get a response until September 28, saying I had an open file and to advise them if I'd like it to be closed or have their representative contact me. Never recueved any pricing or anything in between those two dates.In that span I priced shopped through multiple companies, that had only taken a maximum of a day or two to get back to me - went ahead and had new windows and doors installed by another company.I'd stay away. Waste of time.

Just had Gem windows installed...from start to finish this company was amazing, efficient and super easy to work with! Paul, Meagan and Ziggy with his team of installers! Best experience ever! Highly recommend this company! Windows are beautiful!
