I am a graduate of the Clinical Herbalist program and had such a full and enriching learning experience during my studies here at ITM. The program encompasses all the important elements to develop an understanding of health, wellness, and the knowledge of herbal medicine one should expect. However, ITM’s delivery of teaching with care, compassion, and experience thoroughly exceeded my expectations. I am forever grateful for my time here where I was supported in developing my understanding and love of herbal medicine. I highly recommend ITM to those inspired to learn from a collection of amazing and caring individuals with a wealth of knowledge to share.

I was enrolled at ITM for one semester in the medical herbalism program. I am not speaking to the other programs offered by ITM, as I am not familiar with them. However, I do believe that my complaints speak to larger systemic issues and attitudes that the institute has to remedy immediately. From the very beginning of the program, there were many issues. I will outline some of the most pressing ones in this review. Class sizes are exceedingly large, especially considering that we are talking about students who will be working in the medical field. Sustained individual attention is required for adequate training and transmission of medical knowledge, but it is hard to come by at ITM. The apothecary/dispensary simply cannot accommodate the number of students who need to use it on the clinical weekends. Assignment grades are typically handed back weeks, if not months, after the assignment was first submitted. Severe late marks will be deducted for late submissions, and this cannot be questioned. Class materials that are promised to students may not be sent out; the only way to receive such documents (in my case, lecture recordings) is to send a dozen or more emails to the staff explaining to them that you paid for these materials and so require them in a timely manner (…to be sure, you will have to wait months to receive them. Excuses such as “technical difficulties” will be given). Questions concerning examinations will be answered in a vague way, or not at all. A good deal of examination material will not be discussed at all during the clinical weekends, and this is excused by arguing that the program takes a “distance learning” or “self study” approach. Rather, valuable class time will be spent in “meditation.” When your course grades are questioned, you are told it is not uncommon to have to redo some courses" (this is a direct quotation from one of the program administrators). Avoid this school!!I signed up and paid in full for the End OF Life Care program in July 2018 the course start date is April 2019. I signed up for the course because I believe end of life care is important and I have been a PSW for 14 years. Unfortuanlty I had to pull out of the course in early October 2018 because my husbands cancer had returned, I also had to take a leave of absence from my job. I contacted the school in early October by phone and told them of my situation, they requested an email from me to the Director of the institute for a refund which I did.I stressed the fact that I needed the refund asap I called 3 times for a status of my refund from early Oct to end of Nov each time was told a different length of time for the refund. After my last phone call with the institute I was told all contact will now be via email. I find this unacceptable and wrong to dismiss me for wanting the status of my refund. The added stress this has had on my family is very upsetting, I did eventually receive my refund late last week but the school kept a $250 admin fee. This school is not about caring of others it's about money making.
