Blackfoot Lake Staging Area
Staging area for XC Skiing. Excellent tracksetting. Excellent trails designed by landscape architect and it shows. No suicidal hills nor unending climbs.

Pretty wet this year hard to get in and out of horse access but was a few wonderful rides put in this year already.

Awesome place to stargaze! Can be quite busy with people who don't know dark site procedures. So make sure to proper dark site etiquette before entering as to enhance everyone else's experience!

Great spot for astrophotography! Bortle 4.5 is much darker than my Bortle 9 backyard!!

This is a beautiful area which is a lot less popular than elk island even though it's across the highway. The restrooms are still outhouses with no running water but was still quite nice.

Great spot, even in the winter. No end of options, so you can hike as much or as little as you want without ever retracing steps.Also, a great Dark Sky Preserve for Aurora and stargazing.

A great place to do astrophotography. Please make sure it you are coming at night to keep your lights as low as possible and please be respectful of other astronomers.There are washrooms near by as well as picnic tables, though most astronomers will set up in the middle of the parking lot.

Gorgeous hike had here. There are dozens of trails to hike, or bike, or ride horseback. You can cross country ski, or snow shoe in the winter. Tons of garbage cans, warming lodges and washrooms through out the area. All the trails are marked and there are maps all throughout the area as well. Can’t wait to come back and explore more

Good place for a spring hike! Some trails a little flooded out right now but most are open.

Blackfoot Lake Staging Area
Lots of great paths for cross country skiing. They were not super groomed but that's ok. It's wasn't busy at all which meant we could take our time and enjoy the beautiful sights without feeling pressure from a million other people around. I'll be coming back in the summer to hike as well. It's very nice.
