Restaurant Yarrow
Had such a lovely experience dining here. The chef was extremely attentive, interactive and I loved how the restaurant was designed in a way that made it easy to initiate conversation with other diners...at a safe distance of course. Another unique aspect of this dining experience was courses served in different parts of the restaurant. I liked moving from having bubbly and oysters in the lounge to sitting in front of a fire in the kitchen while my main courses were being made. I haven't seen any other restaurant do this before, and I found it very innovative. Of course the food was delicious, i'm no fan of mushrooms but a standout of the night was a delicate, mushroom custard. You know the food is good if the star of your favorite dish of the night is something you usually have an aversion to. This place def makes me proud of being from Edmonton. Very excited to go back.

Unique experience I thought the quality of all the dishes was high and the flavours and textures were delicious and creative. I wish more of the courses had some meat/protein, I could’ve eaten more. The bar had great cocktails too!

Wow, what an experience. I had been wanting to come here for a while, and was brought here as a surprise for my birthday. The attention to detail is incredible. The dishes are presented in interesting manners which echo the ingredients, for instance, the mussel skewers were presented on a dish filled with decorative rocks and mussel shells. The time flew by even though we spent about 3 hours there for their lite menu (menus are set). The pacing of the courses was excellent and I never felt like I was waiting around or hungry. The ambiance is both intimate and modern, with a fantastic fire blazing behind the chef's counter which is both for practical purposes and atmosphere. The chefs themselves are happy to answer questions and interact, and are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. They carefully select their ingredients from local and regional producers, hell, they tapped their own maple syrup. That's incredible dedication. This sort of operation risks coming across as pretentious but amazingly, Yarrow does not. They are down to earth artists serving a quality product for adventurous palates. I would love to come back here.

Hands down one of the most thoughtful and unique dining experiences in Edmonton (if not Canada and the rest of the world). We have been fortunate enough to have been following Ben on his gastronomical journey from the Blue Pear, North 53, Alta, Alder Room and now Yarrow. Some of our most memorable dining experiences have been at restaurants in which his talents are showcased. Definitely worth the investment to experience his ever changing multi-course menus where creativity and endless hours of effort are evident. A truly wonderful night out and his passion for quality ingredients shines in every dish (and wine pairing). Even in these strange Covid times your team has been creatively crushing the takeout scene and offering This is Not Yarrow eats at home for those of us who cannot wait for your reopening.Keep doing what you love Ben - your passion and hard work are second to none!

I've been fortunate enough to eat at Yarrow a half dozen times and every experience has been equivalently astonishing. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome; the environment is warm and inviting. You start your meal with snacks in a space reminiscent of a living-room; it's disarming. If you're social, you'll quickly make friends with fellow diners; if you'd rather remain anonymous, you can curl up in the corner and watch from a distance. Each little bite is whimsical yet precise - the flavours are clean and intense. The diners set the pace of the meal, so once you've eaten your fill of snacks you'll move into the heart of the restaurant: a small dining room centred on a hearth with a cozy fire. It's all in the details - they prize ghost service, you never have to ask for anything, it always magically appears at the right time. The meal starts off fresh focusing on raw seafood and high acid vegetable dishes that refresh, moving towards richer dishes near the end. Every single ingredient is sourced locally - they use Alberta beet sugar, BC salt, and have eschewed ingredients that can't survive our northern climate like black pepper. Their relationship with farmers and reliance on foraged ingredients (horseradish, wild blueberries, etc) ensure maximum quality in every dish. The dishes are minimalist, often comprising just 2-4 ingredients, but that show every permutation of that product (distilling, drying, candying, fermenting, pickling). Many of these dishes take weeks to prepare, and some ingredients will literally spend years ageing before their ready for the plate. Almost everything sees a little time on the hearth, picking up a touch of smoke. Wine service is equally wonderful, focusing on small family producers who farm sustainably and avoid additives in the winery. Their cocktail list is no different - they make their own amaros, bitters, syrups, and anything else you could possibly need using a wild array of techniques (centrifuges, vacuum distillers?!). After dinner you're rewarded with a small collection of one bite deserts while you unwind in the same room you started in. The price is more than justified, the attention to detail is unmatched, the meals I've had here are the best I've experienced anywhere on earth, I am preposterously full and satiated when I leave, and anyone who can't find joy in this restaurant is beyond saving.

Ceci N’est Pas Yarrow, a different twist from the dine-in experience but still the same tremendous food offered.Ben will take you on a culinary journey as all the dishes have their own uniqueness to them and never short on the detailsTake the grass-fed beef tartar for example. The confit egg on top is cooked at 64 degrees for 2h. Looks outstanding, tastes deliciousOur favourite item on the menu was the grilled bone marrow. It was exceedingly good! nothing I say will do a justice to it. Bread that it's served with is made in-house which is a nice complimentJersey milk ice cream with burnt honey and candied almonds. The perfect desert to finish the evening. Cold and room temperature elements. Sweet and salty. Smooth texture and crunch factor, it was really excellentTotally worth it. Would recommend !

We enjoyed an intimate dining experience with wine pairing, and seating front and centre with the chefs to observe our meal preparation. Can't give away the menu. A must see and do experience. Three hours passed in a flash.

Amazing food experience, very perfectly prepared foods done with some of the most interesting techniques, all explained to you while you eat with a small group of people. I loved the attention to detail and food selection. You're moved to 3 different eating locations during the 3 hour experience. The first 20 courses were amazing. The final course is also great tasting but I'd suggest you ask for your bill as soon as you're moved to the poorly lit solid black room. Get the bill, get out and avoid tarnishing the memory of previous 20 courses for a piece of dessert that would be better as a to go treat bag.
