Have you ever had a child that struggled, felt hopelessness and anxiety when faced with a subject they simply had difficulty grasping? It’s a cycle- first the struggling to grasp the subject at hand, next anxiety when falling behind followed by the sheer fear that they can never recover and pass, let alone excel..Well, that was my son. Then, the following year, my daughter.I watched both of them close off, drown within themselves because the confidence in themselves that they lost trying so hard to learn and *understand* the Math that was being taught at school simply wasn’t sinking in and in turn, that anxiety rolled over to their everyday lives. Once and as soon as I figured out the the cause, I was very lucky to have found Mr Yala (as we refer to him as).To memorize something isn’t really gonna help and isn’t the key to Math; *Understanding* it is. Mr Yala was so patient, kind and so thorough that immediately I noticed the difference in my kids. They were smiling. They weren’t withdrawn and they were actually looking forward to his lessons. Here’s the thing - there really isn’t a thing as a bad student; everyone learns at at different rate, and not necessarily my the same means or methods. Sometimes a kid just cannot understand a particular teacher yet the same kid excels under the direction of another teacher. I had watched my kids go from anxiety when they heard the word Math to excitedly waiting to see Mr Yala for their lessons. Why? Because he not only taught them and helped them understand but he did so in such a way that was kind, disarming and fun. That was what they really needed. Without that anxiety, they both were able to get back in there and grasp the lessons so that they could understand the how and what’s, which ultimately had them not only padding but completely turning their marks around. I was not only proud of them but happy for them (and relieved).I took the time to write this rather lengthy review because nothing matters more than my kids, their well being and their happiness. Something like what is seen them both go through with Math was alarming because as teens, they don’t have it easy never mind adding to it. So, I wanted to take the time to acknowledge just how much of a positive impact Mr Yala had on both of my kids, not just in Math, understanding it and their grades, but the chain reaction - they were happier, like a big weight was taken off their shoulders. It’s an incredible thing. How could I not write a review for and educator/tutor that is that good and really does care about his students? He understood and knew how to reach out to my kids when they felt like they had no hope left and were worried they’d never understand Math. Mr Yala made certain that, just by being a great person and educator/tutor, my kids walked away feeling better about themselves and their ability to do well in school. That alone is reason enough to write a great review for a great man. Thank you for what you’ve done for my kids sir.Ps. My kids have you on speed dial.
