Western Shelter
Beautiful cabin, amazing location. The view is breathtaking during summer and winter nights. Outside there is a bench overlooking the city. Inside there are 6 tables with benches, furnace, and wood. Warm and cozy during cold winter nights. Clean and well maintained. Bring your own light/candles if you stay late. Respect the place, and clean after yourself.

Just a fabulous place to rest while you’re out skiing. Nice wood stove, great view out over the Ottawa River Valley

This is an awesome cabin that is very easy to get to. Park at P12 or Champlain Lookout.

Western Shelter
This is a well-maintained shelter that is available for hikers on the Champlain look out trails. It is actually worth a stop because the views are nice and the interior of the shelter so well-maintained. It is fully stocked with firewood, kindling, and would be accessible for both skiers and on foot.

Excellent cabin that is well cared for and generally respected by guests. There are multiple places to park and hike up for a picnic.

Western cabin is well cared for and only a short 15-20 minute walk from the Champlain lookout. The cabin is equipped with wood burning stove and outside there is a picnic table with a great view of the Ottawa valley. Just by the cabin is an outhouse for when nature calls.

The Western Shelter offers stunning panoramic views of the river valley. A perfect spot to have lunch or a snack along your hike. Accessible from the Champlain Lookout parking lot or from multiple trail heads in Gatineau Park. The Shelter has multiple picnic tables & benches indoors & out as well as outhouse facilities and a fully stocked woodstove for chilly nights or skiing days. Cell reception is excellent & it is rarely busy when I have visited providing a secluded private spot to take photos and enjoy the view!

I went thinking there might be lots of people in the park. Summer's day and all. However I saw no humans on familiar trail I took. Just endless hordes of mosquitoes and deer flies. My phone worked only at the top where the Western respite is. Enough to get a few scenic camera shots.I'll return in September when there are fewer little nasties around.

A rustic day use cabin located at the edge of the eardley escarpment. Fantastic view.
