Hanging With Hounds: Separation Anxiety Dog Trainer

I honestly can't say enough, about how awesome Sharon was with both me and my fur baby Cooper! Being a first time pet owner, my worst fear was that Cooper wouldn't learn the basics and I would be lost on how to train him. My vet recommended Hanging with Hounds and it was the best decision I made (apart from Cooper of course). Sharon began working with him at 10 weeks old. With her patience and love Cooper learned, socialization, sit, down, touch, leave it! I truly believe because of Sharon, Cooper has been given unbelievable life lessons and I learned how to interact with him and how his little fur brain works. At 16 weeks this little monkey did his first hike with no problems! I would highly recommend Sharon and Hanging with Hounds to anyone looking for a safe, fun, loving, experienced trainer!

During the pandemic we adopted a one year old rescue and very quickly noticed severe separation anxiety symptoms. We had to start out with only 30 second absences but with Sharon's help were slowly able to work up his confidence to longer absences. Sharon's support through this process was invaluable and made us feel secure that the training was helping him in a healthy way to desensitize our absences. Our dog's anxiety has significantly decreased through this whole process and we have learned the tools to continue working on extending our absences. We are at over an hour now and continuing our training to keep going for longer absences. Sharon was there to cheer us on through all of progress and keep us going through the regressions. I started to work with Sharon in early 2022 with my 8 month old Whippet puppy Jasper. He was dealing with some severe separation anxiety which was having some negative effects on both of our lives.Sharon was great from our first introductory meeting and was very clear in explaining what was happening with Jasper and the work that was needed to address it. She was able to provide me a lot of support and encouragement during a pretty stressful/overwhelming time.In terms of the program, Sharon is very organized and has a lot of great worksheets that help you stay on track and see the progress that your dog is making. She is always great and positive during the weekly check-ins and is just a friendly, positive person to work with.I worked with Sharon for 8 week program and have seen tremendous improvements with Jasper which I will continue to work on with the skillset she has instilled in me.For anyone that is in a similar situation to me when I first began this program, I highly recommend considering Sharon and Hanging with Hounds to regain some control and freedom back into you and your dogs life.

Hanging With Hounds was recommended to us by Doodle Dogs in Parkdale.We worked with Sharon in early 2018 in private training sessions where we had two dogs that were slightly different ages, Monty (4 months) and Romeo (13 months).Sharon was very flexible and customized a training program that would work for both dogs. The improvements we saw in Monty and Romeo were incredible. Sharon was friendly and extremely knowledgable. She was very professional and superb with our dogs.We really felt like we not only saw great improvement with the two dogs in the 6 weeks that we were working with Sharon, but that we were also armed with tips and tools to continue training the pups long after our sessions were completed.We would highly recommend Hanging With Hounds to anyone interested in dog training!

We have never raised a puppy by ourselves, let alone a giant one. If you are lost and don't know where to start, this is where to start. With no previous experience we were doing a lot of in effective training and even making somethings worse. Sharon was very friendly and did a great job, we now have the tools to work with our puppy and start a great relationship.

I highly recommend Sharon to anyone struggling with a dog with separation anxiety. We had never dealt with a dog with separation anxiety and having Sharon lead us through a gentle and sensible program was just what we needed. Sharon is knowledgeable and quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Our weekly joint sessions were a highlight of the eight week program. The information Sharon provided helped us understand what Luna was going through and the tracking sheets and logs were easy to use. We are feeling confident with our progress and if we hit any roadblocks I would not hesitate to engaged Sharon's services again.

Sharon was fantastic! She is so calm and gentle with dogs and our puppy loved her! She provided great written materials as well as her training sessions with our whole family which were extremely helpful. We have never had a dog before so were definitely in need of some help and Sharon provided such a great service. We loved having training sessions at our own home instead of with a class and Sharon was great at teaching our puppy (and us!) many useful skills. We really appreciated all of her expertise and advice as well as her kind nature and would highly recommend her service!

Sharon has been a huge help for working with me and my puppy Hoichi on his separation anxiety! I came to her after a month or so of work on my own, unsure of how to better progress the training for my pup beyond the initial work we'd done. Sharon is kind, knowledgeable, and very responsive. She develops a program that works for you and your dog, and is forced free and based on daily desensitizing and gradual progress. When first working with Sharon we had about a 4 minute baseline, and I can now leave home for over an hour. Initially I signed up for the 4 week program, but extended it for another 4 weeks and glad I did. Really wonderful person and fabulous trainer - so grateful for her help with me and Hoichi's journey towards calm and confident time alone!

We had the pleasure to work with Sharon on the separation anxiety issues of our rescue dog (he wasn’t able to stay alone at all and started to bark and whine, so we got noise complaints from neighbours). We made 2 four-week courses with Sharon and it literally transformed our dog! We’re finally able to spend the evening somewhere else without him and most important, he is totally comfortable being alone. We’re still working on building the absence duration on our own, but Sharon literally freed us! So if you have the same anxious dog as we do, that’s the best investment you could make to significantly improve the quality of your life! In addition, Sharon is incredibly nice to work with, she explains everything very clearly and in detail. Be ready to invest some time training your dog, but that’s the goal, right? :) To sum up, we highly recommend Sharon and will be always grateful for what she's done for us.
