Sands on Golden Lake

My party went for dinner for 2 birthdays.The service from the waitress was horrible. We had to wait nearly an hour for our drinks, appetizers showed up after all the entrees had arrived.When the server was asked about the service and order of the food she became snarky then became overly sensitive.My dinner was incomplete, and rather bland.It's a shame since I have been going to the restaurant for 17 years and always enjoyed my visits.After tonight, I am not sure I will be returning nor recommending to anyone.

I held my wedding at Sands in September and I don’t have one negative thing to say about them. Lexi was beyond amazing helping me get all the planning set for the wedding and answered all my millions of questions promptly leading up to the date. Zach was amazing and really impressed all my guests with his friendliness and bar service. I was stressed about the new ticketing system for the bar but it ran so smoothly. The food was delicious, I still have friends and family talking about it. They were so accommodating, very clean and on schedule. I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding and the venue was absolutely breath taking. They truly outdid themselves and I’m so thankful, I didn’t want the weekend to end. We plan on going back for our one year anniversary.

This review is for the restaurant, we just had our 15 year anniversary dinner. Was very impressed with the food, just young cook but really done well. Ribs were very tender, bbq sauce awesome and veggies cooked perfectly (not over cooked). The waitress (sorry can't remember her name) was very nice and very accommodating.

What a wonderful venue! Only outdone by the service. Zack the owner goes able and beyond to ensure everyone is totally satisfied. From the rooms to the restaurant. A one stop shop" . So good we booked for next year!"

We stopped at the restaurant for breakfast Saturday morning. Great stuff. Great music, great service, the food was really good and we got it in a timely fashion. A really fun little spot. Great views over the lake!

Very friendly staff who helped me with a late check-in, there is lake access and it's right on the highway, making it super easy to find. The only issue was the lock on the door was not very secure (a locking doorknob, which is quite easy to pick open) as a solo traveler it would've been nice to have a secondary lock inside the room to feel more safe. There was no issue, but as a paranoid city dweller, a chain, deadbolt, or door jam would've made it a lot easier to fall asleep.Everything else met expectations, and the staff were very friendly, if I didn't arrive so late I'm sure the front desk would've been able to help if they still had staff onsite for the night.

I stayed here with my mother as we visited some family/friends in the area. Although the view of the lake was nice and the owner was welcoming, we would not stay here again. The bed was very uncomfortable and squeaky, the amenities in the room were bare minimum, stains on the towels and carpet, balcony railing was falling apart and a safety hazard, cracks and spiderwebs on the ceiling, the bedside lamp was extremely hot after only being on for a couple minutes—a fire hazard and just outside the room, there was a strong fecal smell wafting up from the sewer system. The breakfast in the restaurant was alright but nothing special. The room was warm and relatively clean, so we didn’t complain at the time, but the place overall needs some repairs and safety improvements.[UPDATE in response to owner's response: I did want to speak with someone at check out time, but we had to check out early, and the owner wasn't there at 9am, so we followed the sign instructions and left the key in the room. I'm not trying to be nasty, this was our genuine experience. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the restaurant, as there weren't any complaints there-- just not amazing" as you necessarily claim

Great Lakefront property. Restaurant menu and service is 5 star easily. They go above & beyond needed for 5 stars. Great job crew.

Right sized hotel and restaurant for the area. Come here for a nice meal without going to nearby cities or a nice place to stop on your way through. The location on the lake is great in the summer. There's a spa building that also looks over that natural beauty. The rooms/cabin are clean though somewhat dated (this is quite alright!). The restaurant is good and has interesting Asian options on top of regular things. There are vegan and vegetarian options. Kid friendly.

Parts of the motel did not have water. The owners had to bring in an emergency plumber to fix the water problems. The restaurant has great food and Brenda was a trooper and went well over her duties.
