I absolutely loved the environment at Alegria. My daughter had an awesome time every day. I’ve been so grateful for them accepting my daughter at 10 months and she went until she was 3. She learned to walk there and learnt many wonderful things. She misses the daycare and the staff. I’ve recommended and will continue to recommend to other mothers/families looking for a daycare for their child/children!

Our daughters attended Alegria from 2016 to 2020. My youngest started on the Infant toddler program all the way up until moving on to Kindergarten.During the difficult months of 2020 (COVID 19) and the re-opening of the centre, Alegria was always in touch with us, offering online story time for the months it was closed, and continuing with a safe re-opening by June. We felt safe and engaged throughout all of this difficult process. Our experience with Alegria has been great, both our daughters were very happy during their time there, lots of outdoor activities, great facilities and excellent staff! For anyone looking for childcare in Port Coquitlam, you should check them out!

When we moved to BC in 2016, we were looking for a day care for our 3 years old boy, we found several options in the area but we loved Alegria from the beginning. The manager gave us the tour and we loved the way the kids were playing, smiling and enjoying the activities. The staff was really involved in the activities and interacting with the kids. not just like kid watchers as we have seen in others day cares. Our son wanted to stay since day one, that gave us confident that he would like to be there. He started a few days after and he expend 2 years until kindergarten. it was a wonderful journey full of good memories and experiences, he learned a lot during those years, numbers, letters, drawings and all that but he also learned about family and friends. We had the chance, as new comers, to meet a lot of people, now days great friends. It was a wonderful experience, for our family. We planned to put our new baby in Alegria when she gets 12 months.Trust your kids to strangers is not easy, we want the best for our children, teachers with years of experience, a nice environment to play and learn, happy families, make Alegria an excellent choice for your little ones.

Amazing childcare! We are very fortunate to have had the experience of being part of the Alegria family. My son attended Alegria for almost 3 years. All the teachers took care of him with all the love and patience. Every day was a pleasant experience full of knowledge and thanks to that my son is a happy boy with strong self-confident. I highly recommended this day care. The owner is an amazing person! We will be grateful forever!

Our experience at Alegria Childcare was very different from what many have experienced. We feel it is important to share this experience in order to weigh out your options when placing your child. Our son started attending Alegria when he was 12-months old. He has allergies and food sensitivities, which means he requires extra attentiveness. Most teachers were great with him, they showed him love, care and he enjoyed attending. Our challenges started when our son began throwing-up on a daily basis at least once or twice, while at the daycare. We had lots of questions for the teachers and the owner, as we were very concerned. We needed to be informed in order for us to provide as much detail to our doctors to figure out why this was happening. We also noticed that our son was crying to the point of throwing up while in the care of the owner. We spoke to her about this and her response was very defensive. The response we got was “in my 20 years of experience, he is a child, they do this sometimes, he is doing it on purpose” etc.One day, while picking up my son, I saw him run into an empty room which had props ready for next day. I started filming him to show him later in his life how curious and adventurous he was. All of a sudden one of the teachers ran after him while holding scissors in her hands. She ran to him yanking the props from my sons hands while holding scissors which came very close to his face. I gently suggested to the teacher that I was concerned about the action she took. The next day I received a call from the owner to speak to me about privacy and videos. She never offered an apology or acknowledged how dangerous the teachers action was. She kept on lecturing me on privacy and how Fraser Health does not allow it. The thing is, the classroom was empty and there were no children there. Right after that conversation, I saw the owner with a parent who was taking pictures of their child in the classroom with other children around. So it became apparent that her only worry was that the video may have contained unsafe situations and she didn’t want me to share it.Another week or so passed and we noticed our son had bleach stains on several of his garments. We asked one of the teachers how that could have happened? Now we were very concerned of how they were using the bleach, how our son or any other kid could have reach it. Did he get some bleach on his hands and ingested it causing him to throw up? Again, the response from the owner was defensive and without answers. Our final negative experience occurred when we sent our son with some dairy-free cheese and yogurt to school. We had set up a meal plan with the school in which was stated that he is to eat only food given to him from us and it is food that we have deemed safe with his doctors; and was tried previously. The only food he was allowed to have from the daycare were specific fruits and vegetables. The owner persistently contacted my wife to deliberate and debate our food choices when we sent yogurt to school, despite having tested it at home and being dairy free. She was argumentative, disrespectful, rude, and borderline abusive. At this point, we were done playing nice too.In the end, the owner decided that our child was too much work and asked us to withdraw by issuing us a 30-day notice. She claimed this was ample time to find an alternate full-time daycare for our son. We all know that 1 year is not ample time in the lower mainland and my wife and I alternated taking time off work to provide care for our son while we sought another suitable care solution. After having Alegria recommended to us, we have to say, our experience was nothing but disappointing. Not because of some of the teachers but because of the negative and defensive way the owner dealt with us. She was clearly more worried about protecting her business than working with us and was quite uncompassionate towards our son’s needs, which is funny because a daycare should be all about kids and a parent should be able to voice their concerns without retaliation.

Alegria Childcare provides a great learning environment for children. The staff are fabulous, and provide a supportive learning and caring environment, with a great variety and good balance of fun and educational activities for the children. I highly recommend this daycare – both my kids enjoyed their time here, and made some great friends.

Alegria Childcare
My daughter first went to Alegria Childcare as a toddler. At the beginning, I was worried about her adaptability to the centre, but the owner and the wonderful staff teachers put my mind at ease every time I dropped her off or picked her up she was being well-cared for: being held, swaddled in her cozy bed, or playing with other toddlers and teachers. Now at a 4 year old, my daughter has learned so much from her toddlers peers and teachers. Alegria Childcare is a health conscious, play-centered learning environment with a great staff of teachers. I highly recommend this top notch daycare.

When I moved to Port Coquitlam, I was worried about finding a great daycare for my daughter, and with Alegria Childcare I must say I found more than that. My girl was happy and felt cared for every single day, and this is the same experience my 2nd daughter is having as well. Nothing is better than the peace of mind that knowing this gives us. They just love going there! My oldest daughter had some food allergies, and, in my experience, they were always very thorough and mindful with her allergy food plan. She is now starting kindergarten and I have to say she is 100% prepared, in all aspects, for this next step. Her last day was pretty emotional and I felt so happy for all the love she received. This place has also a great family sense that I know is not easy to find, the group of teachers is amazing and the group of parents is too. They have some activities, as mother's day, summer potluck, christmas concert, where we share with each other and it's just great. When I want to talk about anything, I can openly reach out to the owner or the teachers and I always feel listened. Another big plus is the Spanish, which is a great part of their program! We are beyond grateful with this daycare and I would recommend Alegria 100%!
