Though a little hard to find, it is AMAZING. Delicious food and beer. We sat on the terrace with our son in his stroller (no high chairs). Dog friendly as well. Yes the terrace is in front of an apartment building but it doesn't feel like you're in an alley as other reviews say.Artichoke dip, grilled cheese meal for my toddler, French onion soup, lobster roll - all delicious!!

Really cozy pub atmosphere with a decent selection of drinks on tap. Patio looks great but I was here during a rainy week so did not get to take advantage of it. The entrance is not right off the street and you have to go into the plaza area to get in.The servers were very nice and had good recommendations. I had the mussels and they were delicious.

The Brown Hound is a great little British pub transplant. I was visiting Halifax from USA and had to stop by after seeing the good reviews and they did not disappoint. This is the spot you can sit at the bar, have a pint of Alexander Keith’s and grab some British comfort food. Having your typical British pub atmosphere, the staff was friendly and quick to grab me a pint. The bangers and mash were spot on and were exactly what I was missing from England and Ireland. I would highly recommend!

This place doesn't look like much when you first walk in but once seated all cozy along the wall with a few pillows at your back you know it's something special. It's not easy to find but those that do will be pleasantly rewarded with fantastic pub fare. I enjoyed the beef and Guinness pie. The gravy is exceptional. My co-workder in the pic chose the fish and chips. Another mate chose the muscles which I had a sampling of. The portions are perfect to fill you up! I'm sure we may venture here again prior to our departure.The beer list leaves a bit to explore for the craft enthusiast but cators more to the average Joe.The staff was absolutely fantastic. Particular exception to the stunning server who was nursing a broken foot like a champion. Hats off to the brown hound!!!

We stopped at The Brown Hound after our tour at Alexander Keith’s. Not only we had the additional free sample from the brewery but also enjoyed a few other beers while listening to the live music.Overall, the atmosphere and the service was pretty good, however, there are different seating areas so, your experience may depend on where you sit.

Lots of the feedback details the atmosphere and I agree. Nice downtown pub that feels warm and like the kind of place that locals visit repeatedly. The beer selection is robust enough and menu diverse enough as well to contain the things you expect and a few surprises you may want. Absolutely recommend going here.The garden Greek salad starter was great but the French onion soup was better. French dip delicious and the chicken dish with sleek Indian spices and apricot side was better.Even the artwork in the bathroom was unique and featured in the wrap up.

A cozy nook of a place with a bright outdoor patio. We sat inside by the fireplace. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious. I got a fish n chip burger and he got a Guiness braised pot pie. Both were tasty, best enjoyed with a pint of Keith's beer!

Great place to be at Halifax downtown and try Alexander Keith beer's at tap. We had the Red Ale and Blonde beer and amazing taste. What surprised was the food and good quantity of food as well. We had the PEI Mussel, and it was so tasty. The broth of the dish was amazing, and to dip their garlic bread into it and have it was so satisfying. The atmosphere is very warm and great vibes.

The Brown Hound Public House
Very quaint dining experience. The atmosphere is so intimate. We went at lunch time and the service was quick, the food was hot and the fish was amazingly crispy! The way Fish and Chips should be.It's a little out of the way so just like a hound you have to hunt for it, but when you find it, you will not be disappointed.
