Chuck does a great job with these typewriters! I had a 60's era portable Royal that had been worked over pretty badly by a child and was no longer functional. After his TLC, the machine is better than the day I acquired it 15 years ago.

Chuck just did some adjustments on an Underwood 315 (Olivetti Dora) and cleaned up an Olivetti Studio 45. The Underwood 315 is typing great now. I paid for cleaning on the Studio 45. But what I got was a cleaning plus series of readjustments that turned a banged-up old typewriter into an amazingly flawless typer. Just an incredible transformation. I paid $135 bucks FOR BOTH. Not often that you feel like you got A LOT more than you paid for. THANKS CHUCK!!!

My wife and I have a 1962 Hermes 3000 that got damaged a bit in a basement flood. We knew the machine was a keeper, but didn't know who to take it to to have it restored. Thankfully, Google pointed me in the direction of Chuck at Acme Service & Restoration. We dropped the typewriter off, got a reasonable estimate, and told Chuck to work his magic. The end result? A beautiful, fully functional keeper of a machine! Chuck even had the platen recovered! This typewriter has been in my wife's family for decades, so we're incredibly happy with the work Chuck did. And instead of sticking it in the basement, the typewriter is now on display in our living room!

Highly Recommended!! I have always wanted an antique typewriter. Recently found a beautiful 1928 Royal 10 which needed a little tune up to get in working condition. I found Chuck (ACME Typewriter) in my area from a google search. He cleaned, lubed, and installed a new ribbon for me. Chuck did an excellent job restoring my 1931-ish Underwood Model 6 as well a my Smith Corona portable. I am totally please with his work and his prices are fair. He is a one man shop, so it may take a while for the work to be completed if he is busy, but it is well worth the wait.

I had an Underwood noiseless 77 that belonged to my fiance's father that I wanted to get restored as a retirement/Christmas gift. He had it in our barn stored for about 18 years so as you could imagine it was quite covered in dust and rust.I live in Indianapolis, Indiana and everyone I tried to consult for this restore told me that it wasn't possible or it was going to be way out of my price range. I ran across Chuck from a Google search and was skeptical of his optimism for the restoration but I am so happy that I took the leap.The typewriter came out beautifully and is so smooth. The wealth of knowledge this man must have is incredible in what seems is a dying field of work unfortunately. Chuck is a typewriter miracle worker. (Thank you, Chuck!) My dad gave me a trusty ol' Royal that he bought ages ago, because it was an exact replica of the one my great-grandfather had used in the 50s/60s. It'd been sitting around collecting dust forever. I found Chuck (amazing that he's local!), and he repaired, cleaned, lubed, and overall adjusted it, along with a new ribbon. It looks perfect(ly vintage). More importantly, it WORKS! I plan to both display AND type a bestseller on this beauty. Remarkable work by a nice guy, at a fair price. Highly recommend!
