Step Above Dance Academy

After trying two other dance studios and being disappointed in the pressure to compete and the feeling like we wouldn’t be “accepted” if we didn’t compete, we stumbled upon a new studio opening up on Schmon Parkway, Step Above Dance Academy.Right from day one, my niece felt welcomed and loved attending. When the idea of competing came up, they were not pushing and understood that my niece wasn’t too sure if it was for her. They supported her in her decision to try one year and if she didn’t like it, she would just go back to regular classes. She ended up loving competition and the studio! The instructors are incredibly caring and supportive not only of their students as dancers, but as children who are learning and growing. We have attended multiple events outside of dance that supports other students in their interests, they have books written by students on display and available to read in the lobby. They help foster their dancers interests both in studio and outside of the studio. Simply put, you can tell they care. The growth in confidence I have seen in my niece is directly related to Step Above. While my niece does compete for them, at no point can you tell there is a difference in the way they treat students who compete vs those who don’t compete. The dances are always age appropriate and they are welcoming of absolutely everyone. I can not say enough great things about them. Once my daughter is old enough, I plan to enrol her as well!

My daughter started at Step Above last year when this studio was recommended to us because we were interested in a fun place to learn dance and not have any pressures to compete. Miss Lily and her entire team are so welcoming and supportive such that even my extremely shy daughter feels comfortable. Also, they do a wonderful job of creating a fun, team-oriented environment by having an in-studio dance and movie night, community movie night, and various other activities whereby everyone is invited to attend! We are so happy with our experience here and highly recommend to everyone!!!

My daughter has been dancing with Step Above for two years and loves it! The teachers are warm and engaging. The classes are fun, and build confidence while building new skills. I would highly recommend the studio!!

Lovely studio for all ages and abilities! The staff is welcoming and friendly, teaching more than dance, also cooperation, kindness and positive attitude. I highly recommend Step Above at every opportunity, as see the maturity and growth of my daughter while she’s been a dancer here.

My 3 year old daughter gained soo much from her experience at Step Above Dance Academy. My daughter started out in September 2021 quite unsure of it all as she sat on the wall and observed the others dance. Her teachers (Ashley and Jamie) respected where she was at, inviting her to take part while allowing her to take the time that she needed to feel comfortable to do so. Eventually, my daughter began to participate more and more; really how could she not as Ashley and Jamie were always teaching in such a fun way. Come the recital in June, my daughter was soo excited to share on stage all that she had learned through out the year. My daughter is super excited to continue dance come September 2022. Also, a big thank you to Lily who was always at the door with a warm welcome and goodbye.

Our youngest daughter wanted to try dance, knowing nothing about the dance life Step Above Dance Academy was recommended by some friends. We were looking for a fun environment and we have found that at Step Above. The whole team has been welcoming supportive and fun. We would definitely recommend this studio to anyone looking for a creative fun place to dance.

I have so enjoyed dancing with all the lovely girls at this studio. Lily & Ashlee are amazing teachers who make dancing the absolute best. The Studio is beautiful & I have loved every single class. Thank you so much to the teachers who are always so patient & kind. You all make dancing the absolute BEST!! Wonderful studio with wonderful people!!

Incredible studio! Miss Lily is such a talented dancer and teacher and is soooo kind to all of her students. I highly recommend this studio to dancers of all ages!!
