A Heartfelt Tribute to Midwife Lisa Thacker, FRIBA, and Mary FishReview:I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible support and care we received from Midwife Lisa Thacker, FRIBA, and Mary Fish during my sister's journey of bringing her precious son, Ryan Nouri, into this world. These exceptional individuals not only displayed remarkable professionalism, but they also exhibited kindness and compassion that left a lasting impact on our entire family. From the moment we met Lisa Thacker, her warm and reassuring presence immediately put us at ease. Throughout the birthing process, she demonstrated extensive knowledge and expertise, ensuring that both my sister and her baby were well taken care of. Lisa's ability to calm nerves, provide guidance, and offer encouragement was truly remarkable. She went above and beyond to create a safe and nurturing environment, making us feel like we were in capable hands every step of the way.FRIBA, the beautiful Persian lady, added a touch of cultural understanding and a unique perspective to the birthing experience. Her sensitivity to our needs and her genuine interest in our family's background helped create a sense of connection and comfort during an emotionally charged time. FRIBA's presence was a true testament to the diversity and inclusivity that is so important in the field of midwifery.Mary Fish, another invaluable member of the team, exemplified the essence of support and care. Her expertise and attentiveness provided an additional layer of security during the birth. Had the best experience with Alusha, Kristen and Kaia. The care during the appointments, birth, and home visits was the best, and the help with breastfeeding was invaluable. I can’t say enough good things about my experience!!Marly

Midwives are super women. The care that I received from Alusha Morris was phenomenal. She was attentive, personal, caring and knowledgeable. Midwives provide the best care for women during birth and especially for the postpartum period. They surround you and your baby with care and support, making you feel safe and secure.

I can't say enough about my care and experience, though nearly two and a half years ago. My assigned midwives and midwifery student were an incredible team, and offered much more personal care during pregnancy and through my initial struggle in the first few weeks postpartum. For compassionate, empowered and informed care, I highly recommend Community Midwives.

I switched to midwifery care somewhat late in my pregnancy, and I'm really happy I did. I had some unexpected minor complications at the very end and Alusha, Kristen and the student Shawna were so supportive and informative. I ended up being more involved with the hospital system than I would have liked but the shared care with the midwives made the experience closer to what I was hoping for. The home visits were incredible in the first few days after birth and the help with breastfeeding was invaluable. My baby and I were so well cared for! Our last appointment was bittersweet because it was nice to hear how well my son was doing but sad to say goodbye to the people who were with him from the beginning.

Everyone here is very lovely and highly experienced. My first birthing and after-care experience was so positive, and I give credit to the support I received from my midwifery team (Becky, Tracey, Elena). They were patient and professional with all my questions and helped guide me through the different stages. Their approach is very mother-centric, and I felt affirmed and empowered with my decisions.

My Midwife Fariba was excellent. I received extensive care, and her knowledge and years of experience are so valuable. When I experienced a superficial medical issue at 36 weeks, Fariba acted fast and we were able to get to the issue as quickly as possible, and change my birth plan to be safest for me and the baby. She has a wonderful bedside manner and always made me feel listened to, giving me her full attention. My favourite part of this process was the 6 week postpartum care that my baby and I received. I didn't have to leave my bed for a full 5 days, and I felt completely supported and cared for.Kaia was also present at my birth, and visited my home postpartum. She gave excellent care as well.If you have any questions outside of clinic visits, you are encouraged to call at any hour and your midwife (or another) will call you back promptly. They also offer a zoom prenatal education class, which we found helpful and informative, but it wasn't a very modern presentation. At the end of that day, yes, I recommend Community Midwives if you are interested!
