I've been here for dinner a few times and it's always a good experience if you're looking for a casual Cantonese restaurant. The congee and rice noodles are particularly good here, but basically everything I've ever had has been tasty. The steamed fish is always fresh and cooked perfectly. The sweet and sour pork is crispy and the sauce is not overly sweet. The staff are friendly and can walk you through the specials on the walls. The best part is that they have rice noodles all day so you can even order them at dinner. I highly recommend that as they make great appetizers.

Congee is not bad but a little more grainy than I like. It is tasty though as they add ginger and scallions to it. The rice rolls could be slightly softer and the dough fritter slightly crisper, but overall it’s not bad. I did like that they gave plenty of noodle roll soy sauce and the sesame and hosin sauce mix. During covid times, I’m finding a lot of takeout places cutting corners on these sauces.

Very good rice noodles rolls 腸粉 and congee 粥 overall. The fried dough stick was light and crispy as well... While the noodle rolls are better at 銀記 at warden and Steeles, this isn't bad for the location. The congee is definitely better here than there. Price wise it's very affordable. They have a very good and cheap morning combo. Worth stopping by if you feel like congee and rice noodles. Casserole bowl looks good and will try next time.

Wonderful food in a cozy old school vibe with good service. The highlights here are the beef horfun and the claypot rice. They're just so good! The claypot rice came with the perfect crisps and most of the meats still retain their juiciness. Their congee and cheong fun are also very decent. The only thing I dont like is parking in the plaza is very limited.

Liwan Kitchen is one of many restaurants in the area, most of them Chinese. This one however, offers a lot of hot pot dishes with rice, kinda like the house specialty. It's been a long time since I've had this. Most of my friends don't have the patience to wait the extra time it takes to prepare. We ordered two, one with Chicken and Mushrooms, and the other with Pork Ribs and Preserved Duck. They both included a bowl of soup, basic but tasty. The chicken and mushrooms tasted very good, maybe a little understated to make the crispy rice shine. After all, that's really the star of the show. The pork ribs were the most flavourful, while the duck, although very tasty, could have been a bit more tender. Overall, both dishes were very good, especially at around $10 each. With these hot pot dishes being the house specialty, and the time it takes to prepare them, the turnover is a bit slow but worth the wait. Another great suggestion, Jennifer K!

Came here with family on a Saturday for lunch. Ordered a few dishes to share and everything was cooked and served at a reasonable time. Food quality and taste was very good and not too salty, food portions was food to share for a group of 6. The staff were helpful and friendly. We will come back again to eat in the near future!

Im so lucky to have a SIL who is from HongKong who knows what to order and my brother for finding hidden gems to eat at in Scarborough. The food was delicious and portions were big enough to feed our family of 12 (7adults and 5kids) with food left over to bring home. The hianese chicken, sweet sour pork and the fried whole chicken were amazing as were all the other dishes - beef noodles, congee, squid tentacles, seafood tofu dish, fried rice, donut wrapped in rice roll (sorry I dont know all the official names!). Our server was so lovely and patient, getting us waters, multiple napkins and was just so nice overall. Go check this place out, you won't be dissapointed!

For breakfast 4/5 stars. Very large portion for the price. Congee is not too salty, lot's of meats. Beef tsern fan tastes very good. Environment is very clean and organized.Dinner was also very good, except the soup which did not come out hot. No msg in any of the food.

FOOD: very affordable and decent.• Pork & Golden Preserved Egg Conger: I love this one, I also get the Dough stick and it go so well with this.• Coriander & Beef Rice Roll: not recommend, I could barely find any beef in there. Rice roll is quite thick and starchy.Overall not too bad if you just want to get something cheap and get you full.

Previous rice noodle rolls and congee restaurants I’ve visited have been cozy establishments where tables are practically communal and anyone who’s claustrophobic should avoid them at all costs. Hence, stepping into LiWan Kitchen was a pleasant surprise. Despite the narrow store front, the dining room stretches far into the building and tables are spaciously placed apart. As a bonus, the air conditioning is more than adequate to hold off the heat sweats from eating congee in the summer. With a full page of rice noodle roll options, we knew this would be a dish that is a must order. Having sampled three, they were all adequately filled and although the wrapper wasn’t as thin as some other specialty restaurants, they were still lighter than what’s generally found at dim sum.The shrimp and snow pea leaves ($4.50) are evenly distributed amongst each roll with two large shrimp in each and half lined with the slightly crunchy leafy vegetable, which adds colour and a herby taste against the seafood. A vegetarian version replaces the shrimp with prince mushroom slivers ($4.50). While the menu describes it as multi-mushroom with snow pea leaves, there’s really only one fungi, but plenty of it is included in the roll. Plus, being a meatier mushroom with a slight bite, the prince mushroom contrasts nicely against the silky rice wrapper.
