Pete's Frootique & Fine Foods

Good food but horribly managed. Always have to walk around and ask someone for help when they are supposed to be at the deli or dessert section. I have asked the managers to order me cases of food which I offered to pay upfront, they declined and they never bothered to call me even after I hound them for products. See for yourself walk in there around 5pm and notice a complete lack of management. The place reminds me of a 7-11 store.

Pete's is one of my favourite stores. Their selections of cheese and other fine foods are great. Unfortunately the prices are ridiculous and I can't shop there as much as I would if it were more reasonably priced.

Staff was very unfriendly and uninviting. Lots of standing around and not a lot of helping. The lady who was checking me out pulled out her phone mid order. However I had a great experience with the one gentleman making the sandwiches, he did a job well done. My sandwich was decent, but they were completely out of several ingredients that would’ve made my sandwich that much better. The soup was very bland and tasted like sweaty bath water. Would not recommend to a friend. My experience was also unpleasant at the smoothie bar, the lady was unfriendly and didn’t inform me that juice instead of a milk option was extra money until she already rung it up and wouldn’t substitute it for me anyways. My smoothie was also very chunky and incredibly hard to finish with my flimsy paper straw. Lots of room for improvement and I feel with a little more training of the staff it could make my experience more spectacular

This is the best store. We love wandering around and seeing so many food products that you don't see anywhere else. Great variety of teas. Fabulous produce!! Great butcher, love the sausages. Bakery is great too! We had fun and spent a long time puttering and looking around. We will be back!!

Sadly, catering quality has gone downhill. Years back Pete’s created the most georgeous artisanal fresh fruit platters that set them apart, and they were worth every penny. The one I picked up today (May 2023) was nothing special. No exotic fruit. Arrangement lacked flair. Poor attention to detail (off cuts). Obviously made the day before with soggy under pieces. I could do a far better job myself. Or go to a basic grocer. Disappointed.

Always a good place to stop for ex-pat foods, amazing selection and friendly staff. They have a great British sweets and snacks selection with many options you can only find here.They also have a really good cold drink selection, bakery area, deli and butcher shop. We also enjoy their vegetarian and organic section.

I love the Pete’s market but the smoothie bar is a whole different review. The lady with the glasses that’s always there is losing business for Pete’s! I have been turned away so many times by her because it’s “too busy” or “I have to wash blenders” or she’s away for her lunch at literally their most busiest times of the day! Or she just doesn’t want to serve you in general! It’s so annoying to come there for a smoothie and waste your whole lunch break because she doesn’t want to serve you! Her attitude is also awful!!!!! I’ve been disappointed too many times trying to get a smoothie there because of HER. She acts like ordering is a smoothie is such an inconvenience for her but news flash, that is literally your job lady.

I love Pete's! My husband is from the UK, and when we moved here from Ontario I was worried about where we would get all of our favourite products! To date, I have been able to find everything we need! Outside of UK products, their produce and baked goods are amazing quality, and they are often fully stocked. I also love that I can buy individual pieces of produce (like one carrot) instead of a 2lb bag I don't need and often goes to waste. The team works hard to keep the store clean, too. Their deli/food bar has a really great variety of different foods; We love getting our ingredients here for charcuterie because of the broad selection of products. Their meat counter is exceptional quality and we can often find obscure produce and proteins here. They also make excellent cheese and meat boards! So glad to have a store like this close to home! If you like to purchase seasonal items from the UK, be sure to buy early as they sell out quickly. One of our most exciting discoveries recently is Farm Boy products, as it was our go-to market when we lived in Ontario.

I haven't been to Pete's for a while. There are still many options for buying warm ready to eat food. The most obvious one was too busy to take a pic without getting customer faces caught in the pic. I try not to do that. The new thing to me anyway, was the gourmet, ready to eat pizzas by the slice. (See pics) They looked amazing! Great variety and display. Lots of staff taking care of the pizzas and answering questions. Written descriptions were well put together. I miss the energy that Pete brought to the business, but under sobeys ownership it is still a nice place to go.
