Cumberland Lake Park Campground
Beautiful location. Nice water temperature, cordoned off swimming area and lots of picnic sites. Great family spot or BBQ.

TLDR: Beautiful Campground but I'm unlikely to go back. If you like guns, dogs and dirt bikes, then 10/10.Pros:Beautiful space! Lots of trees and well carved hiking trails. Several rock-climbing spots already with anchors. Super dry year so no waterfalls when we hiked to them. Mountains surrounding the lake and the scenery is awesome.Pit outhouses well placed and water is accessible. Flush toilets and hot showers are located in the central hub and well maintained.Ice available at the office, reasonable price. We camped late in the season so it was on sale for $2/bag. Definitely stocked up as we left. The staff is so sweet and lovely. They are easy to talk to and very helpful.Stargazing on the beach is top notch. Bring your propane fire and blankets and prepare for an excellent chunk of dark sky. Milky way clearly visible.Water is clear and the beach is large with many spots for all types. I could take a nap while my cohort went swimming. Sandy areas, pebbled areas, you got it all.Cons:THE GUNS, DEAR SWEET JESUS THE CONSTANT GUN SHOTS ECHOING OVER THE LAKE. I hope I'm making it clear that this will be part of your experience during the daylight hours. I will attach a few videos. Apparently it is coming from a privately owned gun club across the lake. Does not seem isolated to the weekend since if you are a member of a private gun club, you likely have some free time on your hands during the week as well. This makes all other beautiful parts of this place hard to enjoy. Even the hiking trails echo with gunshots. Seems today they were hosting a special on automatic weapons because it was especially hard to listen to. Total shame for such a lovely place.Dogs. Yes, this is a dog friendly campgound and they do have a note on their site that says dogs must be leashed. This is neither acknowledged nor enforced. Dogs tend to roam free on the beach and in the campsites without consequence. Walking to get water, expect to have a dog running out to you to bark at you with their irresponsible owners yelling for them to come back.Dirtbike noise. If you are here to bike the trails this is the place to be! If you are not, it's just noise.Overall, beautiful space with some loud neighbours and annoying pet owners. Not their fault really.

Love this campground and all the extras they offer! Live music on Friday, movie night on Saturday, watershed tours on Sunday. And the concession is a bonus! It's a beautiful spot on the lake and a beautiful bike ride to Cumberland. Giving it a 4/5 because the sites are small and many aren't level enough for tents. I do wish they serviced the washrooms more. The ladies washroom ran out of toilet paper on Saturday afternoon and it still wasn't addressed Sunday morning.

Some of the spaces down on the lower level are so crammed together it wouldn't be enjoyable. However the premium sites up in the trees are really nice and spacious. Pit toilets up the top and nice, clean showers and flush toilets at the bottom. It has a small beach at the campsite which does get extremely busy on a good day.

Great place to spend a few, the day, or a long weekend. Food, restrooms, and a place to change for swimming. Showers are available as well.

4.5 out of 5. The lake and grounds are beautiful. They maintain them well, the staff are all super friendly and the camp host seems like a pretty cool dude. The night lake and morning sunrises are beautiful if you get up early enough to watch them. a pleasureful place to camp, the sites are a bit go close together for my comfort. True camping doesn't come with change rooms, a consession, power, and have data range, at least not growing up anyways. LolThe consession is open till about 6pm or so, the food is fantastic and servings are Usually decent. but most prices are high, firewood is 10$ a bag, ice is $4 a bag, vut they will deliver it straight to your site for you. they have a recycling program, lockable food containers on some campsites, the beach and diving dock are both well kept.PROS : so many, as said above. Recycle prog. Rv sites. Highly outweighs the cons.CONS: some of the camp sites are very small, camp sites are to close together. And wood is expensive.

Totally mystified by all the positive reviews. The camping pitches are crammed together so that you could pass the salt from your picnic table to your neighbour's table by just reaching across. Wouldn't have stayed if it hadn't been dark already. The lake may be nice but there are tons of lovely spacious campgrounds on lakes - I guess just not near Comox.

The amphitheater no longer exists so we followed signs to no where. The beach is rocky and gravel. Water was fairly warm. There is a shooting gallery across the lake however and you can hear gun shots going off at night. The bathrooms were really nice and clean with hot water. Not sure what the people raving about the food got. Fries and chicken strips took like 20+ minutes and seemed a tad dry. Gravy wasn't very good. Powder stuff. I heard the burgers are really good though. You can get power in the big rv section but it needs a converter piece to use a regular extension chord. We were lucky to be under the trees and could put our tarp up because it poured on us for a bit. The water is nice. View is pretty decent. Everyone was quiet and respectful but some ppls dogs were badly behaved and would bark and run at us everytime we went to our tent. And we could hear babies screaming all night. Spots are pretty close together. Sometime on each side of us. Most disappointing though you can't seem to get to the chinabowls as the road maps says to take through cumberland is a private locked logging road.
